I've been eyeing up this mod for a while.
Was the plastic replacement piece very expensive?

I have the V Dub antenna, extension cable and the GM ant adapter sitting in the basement. (leftovers from my Car audio shop years ago)
making only one hurdle to get over to do this mod.

Spent the day taking the AV to the dealership.  Did I mention I didn't drive it there?

Yeah, Good News/Bad News: turned out to be just a dead battery - my 3rd battery in 5 years!!  This one lasted about 30 months.

Expensive tho': $300!!
  • $75 for towing
  • $95 for Diagnostics
  • $130 for AC Delco Battery

Dealer says if I can find my receipt from last time, he'ld warranty some of it.

I'm pretty sure it's the Edge Evolution Programmer killing the battery.  This is the one that sits on the dash and works as extra gauges too.  Anyone have any experience with this?

I have the Edge Evolution CS, I have left it plugged in and never had an issue. It is currently unplugged, because I find  it too bright at night, otherwise I love it.

Here in AZ, your best bet on a battery is to get 1 that has a 5 year warranty.  it WILL go out in lass then 2 years.  obviously keep your receipt!!  my dad, for example, had to buy his first battery in 9 years because he has exchanged his so many times because they would run out of warranty they said they couldnt give out any more new ones.

I think it was under $30, been a while since I bought it.  Or get one at a bone yard.  Just get the one for the Tahoe (or any GM large SUV) as it does not have the antenna hole..

I never noticed them on a "civilian" Tahoe or Burb, and don't have the stones to pull one off a cop car.
I will have to check a couple yards for one.
Thanx for the info.

My chevy dealer had a 6 year battery with free replacement the entire time. They did jot bring that up until I mentioned sears with however long there warranty was. Might want to ask about it. By the way that picture looked familiar from when I had a wheel bearing seize. Our truck are the same color and Z71.

Does backing into someones car count for "What I did to my Avalanche today?"

Good news:  No Damage to my Avy.  Thank you cladding!  Not even a scratch.  The bad news: 11 days worth of repair to the Hyundai I backed into.     I'm still not used to driving such a big vehicle.  I've only had it a couple of weeks, and my normal car is a camaro...

Ha!  Been there!

Earlier this year, I was in the pick-up line at my son's school on a saturday and someone pulled up behind me in a small car.  They pulled up so close that I couldn't see their car past my tailgate.
I picked up my son, and the car in front of me was unccupied (they got out for some reason and left the car in the line   :beating: ), so I had to back up and then BANG...of course I had to pay for it.

Hilarious!   I know what it's like to have my car hit though. Some idiot slammed their door into my Camaro the 2nd week I had it. Talk about anger!

Such a buzzkill!   It's hard to see some things in the Avy at times.   Normally I'm quite careful but was in a hurry and didn't look behind me. It happened to be my friends car, so called the insurance and they're taking care of it all.

I have almost done the same.  Just happened to see the BMW coupe in my sideview mirror after putting the avy in reverse.  It was a close call.  That is when I went to Target to purchase a $99 wireless backup camera that mounted on my license plate.  It was kind of  pain because I didn't really want to mount the monitor, so it sat next to the drink holder until I needed it.  I am glad to have the built-in camera on my 2012.  Shouldn't run into anything behind me now. (knock on wood)
