Good luck on the install, getting parts by the weekend?

The parts came in Tuesday except the motor mounts, between Amazon prime and rockauto they had one day shipping. Now let the fun begin.

Spent the day under the beast.

Lube, engine oil & filter, front and rear diff, T-case.

Very little swarf on the diffs but nasty.
Never seen ball joints like this. One squirted like it was full of water.
Looks like SuperSteer candy store is calling.

Well all ready for this season first RV outing.

It's a NW truck real clean under carriage. ODOT and the cities are using more salt and brine.
So I'll just out here in the country.

Went for a drive today. Cruising along something seemed different. It's quieter and smoother.
Amazing what a little love will do.

Hope your projects are going well.

First, I took my 2009 HHR to Carmax this morning and got a check for $3000, leaving me only $1800 difference on the $4800 I paid for my 2002 Z66. The wife is happy = no car payments!
Then after lunch, I went to BMV and got my title work and registration/plate transfer done- so now I can drive my new freedom machine!
It was an estate sale and owned by a mechanic who did all his own work. Going through the owners manual I found scribbles of work that he had done since 2013- transmission oil and filter service, new spark plugs, new rear brake pads and new calipers, He only drove 13,000 miles since the plugs were done at 129K. Tires were said to be new- DOT codes say they are about 2 years old. Only a few small rust specks on the paint so I will touch that up. Its was built in June/2001 and was an early build sent to the Florida market and has been registered here it's whole life. I plan to take it to my Chevy dealer for an oil/filter change and have them do a once over with the wheels off to look for any problems. I didn't see any oil leaks and the cooling system, hoses and water pump look OK, too- but another opinion will give me peace of mind, before I take a trip. I plan to get a small RV in the 4500-5000 lb range soon.

Crawled underneath to check on the bad sounds coming from the rear upon acceleration.  Rear diff leaking and oil everywhere underneath.  I think I am living on borrowed time before the G80 completely grenades.  Of course Barney, our '01 XL7 my daughter drives is in the shop so my wife is nursing Bumblebee while my daughter, who has the longest commute, is driving her car.  Trying to find a decent shop in Cincinnati who can do a TruTrac install.   :needhug:

Today I replaced the leaky windshield washer reservoir.  It started leaking five or six years ago and I had sealed the seam on the bottom. It started leaking again this Spring, so decided it was time to replace it.

Took about 15-20 minutes to pull the old reservoir, but took almost an hour to get the new one in. Finally had to have the wife come out and hold it in place from the top and I had to pull the pump off, hook up the wiring connector and then put the pump back on the reservoir.

Last week I had a new set of Michelin Defender LTX-M/S tires installed. Should be all good to go for the summer now.

I seem to remember when I replaced my washer tank several years ago, I finally did the R&R  down through the wheel well.

It was a lot more work that I thought it needed to be.

The pump on mine was where my leak was and it did not come off of the tank and went straight into the trash.

I replaced the entire tank and pump as an assembly.

There was no way that joker was coming out up through the engine bay, even after removing everything I could get out of the way..

I did mine the same way...up through the wheel well. It definitely can't be done from the top down.

I thought about putting the Avy up on a jackstand on that side and taking the wheel off to make it a little easier. But, I'm not an overly large guy so could work through the wheel well without too much trouble. The videos I've seen don't show popping off both of the plastic push pins across the top of the liner, but I found it even easier to get in after I did that as I could get a lot more of the wheel well liner out of the way.

The wire bundle that goes to the pump is a little on the short side and I just couldn't stretch it enough to get it back on the pump until I pulled the pump off the bottle. I used some silicone rubber protectant (303) on the grommet the pump goes through to ease getting it plugged back into the bottle.

My tailgate wouldn't unlatch yesterday!
The lock seems to have slide back in the hole, I looked online to see how to unlatch it- repositioned the lock so it would function correctly and hit it with a dab of superglue, which I hope fixed it.
Next, I have to put in a new drivers side rear window power regulator- waiting on amazon to deliver the new one- Oh,  and apply leather conditioner to the seats later this week.

My air conditioning started getting weak last year. As it was getting cold I didnít really try very hard to find out what was wrong. Well itís hot again so Iím back on the hunt for whatís wrong. I replaced the fan clutch earlier this week with no improvement. I checked the refrigerant pressure, it was very low. I had to add nearly 12 Oz of 134a. Nice cool air again!  Afterwards I could hear a small leak. I traced it back to the low pressure side schrader valve. I triedl loosening and  re-tightening it but it was still leaking this morning. Guess Iíll be picking up the tool to replace the valve.

Pretty sure you will need to open up the fender well cover on a 2012. Beauty of 2002 is I just slide under there and get her done. Had to replace my DRL sockets because full time mode cooked them with conventional bulbs. Not a problem now with LED ambers.

Mine will probably stay like that then, as my fenders wells have bushwacker fender flares, so Id need to take those off to

Goddamn vehicle manufacturers, take something simple and make it a pain

Not today, but last week.  Had the rear differential rebuilt and installed a Tru Trac.  The u-joints I had installed a few years ago along with the yoke bit the dust.  Half the needle bearings were gone and it was totally dry.  That explains the death wobble I've been having.  Had the driveshaft balanced as well.  Driving so much better.  I think it still needs some front end work but doesn't seem so desperately as it did before.

Later this weekend I'll need to replace my front impact sensor as my airbag light is on.  Thank goodness it's not the blasted clock spring again.

Oh yeah, I also made the final payment today.  Bumblebee is all ours.   :woot:

I took the whole front clip off. It's not hard, just a lot of work. I know there are some short cuts, but I also had to replace some led's in the aftermarket headlights I have. I had to be able to remove the whole headlight.
