I replaced my stops and now it pulls to the right. WTF? How could that possibly affect the steering? I still have the OEM tires with half the tread left @20K. Just seems odd that it started pulling right after the Bump Stop change.

after searching same site just above.THey call them bumpers, have old PNs if you use their catalog.

And show the rear one included with FRAME which means JUNKYARD time or go visit your local dealer Part man.

They're both "seated". The right side sits a quarter inch higher than the drivers but I think that is because of the garage floor. A slight variance from side to side is normal i would think.

I recently realized these "stops" were missing from my truck (2002, Z66, 251K miles). I'm thinking about replacing them, but was wondering what symptoms this will fix. I've been driving this truck since 2009, I got it with 130K on it. I don't know how long they've been missing.

But I've never noticed the truck bottoming out.

It will ride better as suspension is design to ride on the stops for most part
also they help shocks keep it from bouncing so much
And prevent metal onmetal contact when it bottoms out.

buy them and install very easy to do and well worth it.

To install jack up side not under tire but on frame so suspension droops.
Remove old one and what is left
Push in new one.
Let jack down and it will seat in the mounting cup.
Repeat other side.

Do not use old one or used on either get new as they are some sort of FOAM/plastic/CUSHY stuff.

Yeah, I've got a set on order. Just wanted to know whether I should expect them to make a difference in the extra bounce I get out of the front end. I replaced my shocks a year ago hoping that would help, but there was nothing wrong with the shocks I took out.

Thanks.

I needed replacement bump stops and this thread was very helpful to me in locating them.  Part of the problem in finding them is that they seem to be called a few different names; bump stops, joust stops, and bumpers.  Once I finally found the GM replacement part numbers I was good to go!

I thought that I'd share where I ordered mine so that others can easily get them too. The best deal I found including shipping and handling was through www.gmpartscenter.net.  If you sign up for their newsletter, you can get a discount code for $5 off, making my total for all four bump stops $63.50.  This was a savings of $40 over buying them through my Chevy parts department.

Front Bump Stop/Bumper = 15153958
Rear Bump Stop/Bumper = 15039397

Cart with front & rear bump stops added: https://www.gmpartscenter.net/index.php?p=cart

Hope this helps anyone else looking for bump stops!  :)

How do you when you need new bump stops?  And are they easy to install?

Mine dry rotted away and never touched
Then one day they were gone... I guess fell out or rotted completely.

I suggest jacking up that side and just feeling them to ensure they are still in good condition and not rotting.

Replacement is easy, they just set in a cup, pull old ones out and put new ones in with no tools.

I thought I would update this thread with the part numbers I used for the bump stops. I had a hard time finding the right part number for the rear bump stops, they are about 5.5 inches tall. For reference I have a 2003 Z66 Avalanche.

Front bump stops: 15153958
Rear bump stops: Dorman 523-065 or GM 15270578

All Hail, You ROCK!!!!
Finally a solid lead on the rear units!
I posted a question about them some time ago and received good info
but they didn't give results like what is on my 06 Z71.
Your info does.
THANK YOU, and everyone else who replied.
