I have to say I keep coming back to this Truck. its like Avalanche Porn.... I wish I could set mine up like that. I will say I was never a fan of the all blacked out with black truck and black rims. I like some contrast. But I have to say that is right now probably my favorite  customized avy  that I have seen so far. You did a great job setting that up. Do you have any other pictures of the interior and Motor? Have you done that part up as well.  Again great looking truck....

this post will be for covering the photo's that are asked for....

this image is the center console that has a archos 7imt adapter fiberglassed and bondo'd into it (I have the archos 7imt)  The adapter is plugged into my JVC camelion receiver... I soon want to have head rest screens put in for the people in the back to watch the movies or whatever from the archos...

this is a before photo of the truck...

http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php/topic,121270.msg1856655.html#msg1856655
this is a link to another post on here with interior photos of my truck.  I've been slowly paying a dude in Texas to hydro carbon my parts.  As for his info.. I'll have that on my next post.. he can do anything.... ***NOTICE*** on sam 2168 you can see I already painted the center console black and you can see the archos 7imt plugged into it.....

Ok now for the other questions....haha...

Tire size :  I do not remember off hand sorry.  However though I emailed my wife and asked her to get the number off the side of the tire.  She probobly will get back to me withing the next 24 hours.

Type of tire : Nitto Terra Grappler

Z71 sticker : I do plan on removing it whne I get back.  When I get back I need to take it to a body shop and fix some rust spots that are starting to form on the roof and above the wheels... banghead

Where did I buy the setup from (wheels, tires, shocks, level kit...) :  They are all purchased from 4wheelparts.com they have a store and intaller on oahu.  So they did it all at the store... I just had to tell them what I wanted...

Cladding paint : Just to reiderate because I am proud my wife helped... We used krylon fusion satan black.  As for it holding up... Lets just say befor I deployed I got ballsy and took a pressure washer to it...  Only ONE spot was taked off...  Well two spots in same location.  they were each about the size of a nickle Cool!

Wheels size : 20x10 thats why the tires are not thicker because the width... I might get a 6" lift if I am feeling cocky in a couple years.... we will see...

Other photos :  In the post right befor this one is pretty much all my photos for the truck.  When I can back I'll let everyone know, and you can ask for what ever photo you would like to see....

Exhaust : Well I am a sucker for performance so I bought the borla exhaust for my truck, and I have headman headers. ... intake I have a K&N setup...

I do not live on KONA island... I live on the island of oahu on the marine corps base.. KBAY

First of all, thank you for your service to this great country. Second of all, drool.....super nice truck man. I just had an Impala B4 the Avy and had it blacked out as much as I could, so I'm a big fan of that look. Besides removing the decal, if I were you I would also tint the tail lights, that really finishes the blacked out look..just my 2 cents..again, good job and looks great!

I'm pretty sure the backspacing is 10.5.  As for how many cans... I would like to say buy 15 to be safe.  on the parts that usually receive the most use like the front bumper and saddle containers, and bed covers.  I used a whole can on them.  Possibly two.  When in doubt use more paint...  For my interior I used almost two cans on each piece...  As for a close up.. I'll take one.  But can I ask why?

Ya I am actually almost done with the style of the truck.  I just need to lay vinyl flooring and vinyl the doors and katzkins the seats.  After that.  I am going to save money and turn my Avalanche into a toy but making it a Baja truck.  I plan to take it on the eBaja 1000.  I have seen one done and fell in love.  As for the rest of the pictures... I'll just post my car domain so you can see what I have done..

Thanks for the post, your truck looks sick.  I liked what you did so much I highjacked your look.  I painted my cladding, sails, panel, etc... and added the KMC Rockstar 20"x8.5" with Falken Wildpeak A/T tires (285/50/20)...now my truck looks brand new and sick.

Here's a before image:

Here's an after image:

The only thing I made a mistake on was AVALIBITO said in his original post he used Krylon Fusion Gloss Black but he later said he used Satin.  I used Gloss and later saw his other post that he used Satin.  At first I was disappointed because the cladding looked so new and my stock rims looked so old but after I added the new wheels and tires it all came together.

In case anyone is interested in why I choose the Falken Wildepeaks over the Nitto Terra Grapplers, it wasn't an easy one.  AVALIBITO trucks looked so sick with the Nittos I almost went those, plus they are great tires.  I found reviews where people loved both and hated both and this was off-road and on-road.  I'm 99.9% on-road so I was more concerned with Tread Life, Quietness, and Comfortable.  In these 3 categories the tires are very comparable but I'm sure the bigger the tire maybe one does separate itself from the other one.  My next category was looks, in the images I found on each manufacturer's website I thought the Nitto looked better but the Falken looked like it had a tougher design pattern on the sidewalls but it's image looked a little more fake...for lack of better work.  So, I wanted to find a real live image of the Falken Wildpeak and I found one at this location: http://www.355nation.net/forum/wheels-tires/53966-nitto-terra-grappler-vs-falken-wildpeak.html...scroll down to the GMC Red Truck going down the hill, I thought the tires looked great even though the ones I would get would be a lot smaller.  Falken's have a 50K warranty and the Nitto's do not.  Falken's are cheaper about $50 per tire.

  • Thread Life - Pretty much the same - Probably depends a lot on your PSI and how hard you are on them
  • Quietness - Pretty much the same
  • Performance - Again, I heard people say great things and bad things about both
  • Looks - I personally think both tires look great.
  • Warranty - Falken has a 50k warranty and Nitto does not have one.
  • Price - Falken's are about $50 less per tire

I want to say I'm not an expert...far from!  I'm only giving you my opinion because I knew nothing about wheels and tires so I wanted to make the best decision I could so I didn't feel like I wasted my money.  I choose the Falken because of the warranty and they were a little cheaper...you can't go wrong with either tire.

I listened to everyone about painting the cladding except I didn't use the Red Scotch Brite pad...I didn't sand at all.  I didn't sand because I didn't want to lose the texture on the cladding, if that was possible to smooth it out.  In prepping, I took my time and scrubbed the cladding with a brush and dish detergent, then I used Denatured Alcohol and cleaned the cladding over and over until my white rag stayed white.  I brought some cheap white t-shirt type towels, after every application I switched out the towels and the alcohol until I could clean the cladding and the towels stay perfectly white.  I taped up my truck (see image below) and applied very light coats...especially the first one.  I did about 5 coats and I used about 10 cans it all.  As far as durability, I'm praying it holds up but it's only been 4 days so far.

Here are images at the tire shop:

How is the painted cladding holding up? Do you wax it just like the rest of the paint on the truck?
