Anyone have any good ideas to seal the bed covers? I have had my 2002 since new and like to use it occasionally for camping and sleeping. But, the covers seal only occationally and I never know if i have a good seal untill I get drowned.

Any ideas?

Lookng for the seals on the covers or seals on the drain gutters.

Take the bed covers off and clean and inspect the seals and make sure that they are seated well to the cover. Make sure that the tracks along the sides are clean. When you are putting the covers back on hold them at about a 45 degree angle and push them into the the last cover before setting them down on the track to lock. This has always helped me get a better seal.

If all else fails you can always cover the covers with plastic while you are camping!

im having the same issue. after a rain storm ill go and have a good area covered with water, which is bad because i move alot of stuff with the ol AV. decided to put a running hose on the top and get in the bed to see where its coming from and its in between the panels. was considering getting a trunk seal and just cutting it and adding it to the ones on the panels as a temp fix until a better more permanent one came along

Two things to check/do. First, check the gutters along the bed side for splits. I repaired mine with several layers of over lapped electrical tape on top and bottom. Another thing to try is to loosen the metal mounts that the covers latch onto. There is some adjustment in the location, so after you loosen them, close the tailgate, open the midgate and crawl into the bed. You can then even out the amount of pressure on the panel seals and retighten the mounts. I needed to remove my mounting hardware for a large load that required the full bed width all the way up the side. When I reinstalled the hardware I got some leaks between the panels. This procedure solved it for me.

I have been having an issue with leaking bed panels as well.  I got the hose out yesterday and found that water was leaking between the weather stripping and the panel itself (the tongue pert of the tongue and groove).

So I removed the weather stripping from the panel.  There were three small staples holding each end to the panel and the rest slipped off the edge of the panel.  I found what looks like old crackly plumbers putty in the groove of the weather stripping.  I used a flat tip screw driver to remove the plumber?s putty (or whatever it is) and refilled it with a waterproof exterior premium silicone caulk and reattached to the panel (weather stripping seamed really tight fit, so I did not use staples or nails).  The caulking is good for sun and wet conditions.  It was too dark out to test last night after giving the caulk time to cure to retest.  I am planning on testing this later on this afternoon.  I am hoping that this will resolve the issue.

Not trying to jack this thread but, where can you get the seals that go between the three covers? I have been doing research on the site, but can not find anything. I really could use the help, one of mine is gone somehow and there are not any Av's in the bone yards anywhere near me.

Gm sells the seals, l'll post a part number when I get home

Are you kidding on those prices?
And to think someone else didn't believe me when I told them the covers were around $1k each according to my insurance company.

Thanks for posting these UB.

Anyone with an Avalanche/ Escalade EXT should have this manual and DVD to help understand and trouble shoot water issues with the covers.

The front seal on my bed cover is leaking where it meets the midgate. Have scored the internet for the appropriate part number (19 Seal, Front Tonneau Cover (f) 88944065) and every site says discontinued/no stock. Anyone have a bead on how to acquire this by chance?
