Ill start with a shout out to the Avalanche, you rock.

So the question is If you could buy any model of Avy brand new off the lot, which would you get today?

I think i covered them all except the Caddy versions, which i know anything about.  If you tell me about them or others i will update ASAP.

Dont forget to explain why you would choose that one.  :B:

2002 is different then 2003 - 2006...

I prefer the cladded, so definately the earlier models, and since the Z71 wasn't available in a 2500, I'd have to go with the 1500.  Too bad they wouldn't give the 8.1L in the 1500 or a Z71 package in the 2500.

Everything thats in the Z71 package is already in the 2500.  SKid plates, tow hooks, trans cooler, Bilstein shocks....

Yup it was part of the Z85 option on the 2500

Isn't the interior different, though?  I test drove a 2500 before I rebuilt mine, and it didn't have as nice of an interior...more like my GMC 2500HD Sierra crewcab.

EricT-  (y)

Although I know that I'm going to buy a second Av eventually and that one will be a cladded monster. By that time they should be pretty cheap anyway! :B:

2002 1500 & 2500.
2003-2006 1500 & 2500 (interior different the 2002)
2003-2006 1500 WBH (interior different the 2002)

then all this new fangled stuff

Go with the fun. We are just having fun

I'm sure the original poster does not know the differences in the AV.

Is it possible to change the vote?

When I saw this thread there was an option 2002-2006 1500.

Since he changed der choices my vote is in 2003-2006 but I wanted to vote for 2002.

Brand new all the way. Like the newer body style over the old and love the new frills. I got rid of the 06 after 8 months of ownership to grab the new style and it to me is a better look. Not that the old was bad cuz it wasnt by any means I love them too but just like the newer style. Both my AVs have been naked because that is the look I prefer. I do think GM should have contnued to offer both naked and dressed to satisfy all. Maybe the AV would not be on the chopping block now if they had.

I voted cladded of course  :D

Probably should have voted '02, I liked the interior better.

I dont think there is a way for me to make vote changing possible since it has been made without it in the first place... sorry my bad.

2002 1500 & 2500.

Thanks, i actually find all different types quite interesting.  I dont know if i am going to change it though because so many people have voted already and i cant figure how to make vote changing possible.

Love my 03 with the cladding.  I've worked to keep it looking new and would buy another one just like it.  I do sometimes wish I had the sunroof, I think it's the only option mine doesn't have.  I think its a real shame the newer AVs don't have a cladded option.  It gives the truck such a cool look.  Nothing against the new ones, I just prefer the cladding.

If they'd never made the cladded trucks I think most of us would have still bought an Avalanche and we wouldn't lament it's loss on the GMT900 version if it had never existed. The real appeal was the utility of midgate/bedpanels/locking tailgate/sidebins. The cladding makes the truck look unique and it prevents shopping cart & door dings, stone chips,... the rear corner steps are another plus.

I love my WBH, but I'm gonna be removing a door ding tonight right where the cladding would have been. Dammit. I also love the bumper steps the cladders get. I saw a thread where a member parked a WBH next to a cladded one, same body style and color: I like the stance of the WBH much better. That said, my next Av purchase will be a cladded one.
