Hey everyone! New to the fan club. I recently bought an forest green 03 Avy with 20k on it in mint condition. I'm an avid hunter and fisherman and i was thinkin of laying some camo over the ugly grey cladding.Does anyone have any experience with this?  Ive seen some kits that they have for other trucks but nothing avalanche specific. Can anyone throw in some input? Thanks alot. Love the truck!

first  :welcome: to the club

second, some of us dont this the cadding is ugly  :beating: lol just busting on ya

As for the camo overlay, I'm assuming you're talking about the Mossy Oak camouflage vinyl material.  I know 3M makes them but I'm not sure how well the adhesion would work on the caladding.  Check a local paint shop that might apply vinyl and see what they suggest.

When i was on my way up to NC I saw an Avalanche with the camo on all the cladding and door handles.  (y)

a cladded AV or newer.  I would think the orange-peal texture would make it difficult to apply

love to see a pix

I've done a bit of vehicle wrapping. Firstly, Is the cladding the same texture as the bed panels and cladding on the newer Avy's? I have a 2011 and it's been a long while since I have seen an early model close up.

In any case, you should be able to wrap the cladding.

Secondly, if you choose to do it yourself, I would stay away from the kits that you see being sold. They are usually more expensive and give you just enough vinyl to do your job without screwing up. And you will screw up.

Go directly to a sign and graphics supply company to buy your supplies. Spend a little more for the higher quality vinyl. It will be easier to get a good finish and remove air bubbles. Stick with 3M, Arlon or Avery.

It's pretty easy to do if you have patience and a fair amount of perfectionism.
Search Youtube for "wrap" "vehicle wrap" "vinyl wrap". There are lots of good videos.

If you choose to have someone do it it will cost around 7 to 9 hundred dollars for for just the lower cladding.

Want to make my cladding look better was going to paint it but wondering if wrapping it would be easier don't care for the camo one but would love a glossy black or maybe match my paint anyone have any thoughts?

jwylde7 I think your problem would be the texture on the cladding. A glossy finish would be full of "goosebumps" and probably wouldn't look good unless you chose to spend a lot of time sanding the cladding smooth before wrapping in a solid gloss finish.

I wrapped my tonneaus last summer and it looked great and held up fine til I dropped my roof tent on one and split the vinyl.  :E: I think I'm going to look into painting it to match now because I did like the Yellow in the middle of all the black. when I removed the vinyl It was pretty cold out and it tore off in pieces and didn't seem very attached anymore.

has anyone ever just wrapped there Sail panels? and does it hold up? I have an 09 Z71 and looking for a different option than $$$$$ painting

Thanks for all responses in advance

I have a black 03 I have been thinking of either blacking out completely or camo wrapping the cladding has anyone used the mossy oak graphics if so how many rolls of vinyl tape was used
Thank you
