I really want to do the console upgrade, however now I'm wondering how the match of the vinyl wrap from ebay will match, lets face it, 9 bucks is a lot cheaper than 90 bucks from GM parts.  How difficult was it to do the wrap on pieces like this?

I was considering a carbon fiber vinyl wrap on my trim...
I would suggest carefully using a heat gun around the edges to get the vinyl to conform to the contours. Just don't stretch it.
The worst parts will be the around the vent openings, (you may have to pop out the vents to get in for trimming)
Make sure to wipe down all pieces with rubbing alcohol to remove any oils or protectants.

All I want to do at this time is the center console, I kinda like the woodgrain on the dash, for now anyways, lol.  Is this something doable at the Nationals, lol.
Pretty good video DO, thanks.   This is the stuff I saw in ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/1FT-X-5FT-SILVER-BRUSHED-ALUMINUM-VINYL-WRAP-PRO-GRADE-BUBBLE-FREE-AIR-RELEASE-/130789556489?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e73aa4109&vxp=mtr,    now just wondering about the match

The brushed aluminum to lighter than the ac vents. I did mine in it still looks better than the wood grain.

Ok whats the procedure for taking the lid apart, I took the eight screws out and not much wants to give, where do I need to pry to get the black trim out without breaking anything, lol.  Found four more screws under the rubber mat, the trim piece is still secure in the latch area, any ideas?

I almost broke mine apart trying to figure it out.

If I remember correctly, after taking out the 8 bottom screws holding the lid liner & 4 top screws under the pad holding the back portion of the latch , the tight fitting black plastic lid liner is removed from the padded cushion by prying underneath the edge......once removed then from the underside of the lid, there are additional (two?) screws  in the latch area anchoring the front of the latch to the lid.

That was it Thomcat, the inside liner just about fell off in my hand, and wahlah there are the other two screws, my fist attempt at putting the vinyl on though was a miserable failure, lol. Well maybe not miserable, just does not look good enough for me,  I'll try again in the am when its a little cooler in the garage
