Hey dwswanger, I don't have a 2500.  I often wish I did because they're kick arse, but I don't.  I was commenting that I think wuan2000 got one a couple months ago in addition to his white cammo wbh.

Hehe, life's been busy.

About to spend $2k on her to keep going for another year (hopefully...) and had me reminiscing which brought me back to this site - surprised its still active!

Engine mounts (both sides), tranny cooler lines, engine cooler lines - all victims of rust that must be replaced. This on top of the fuel pump, brake lines, passenger side fender, rear calipers, and some stuff I'm sure I'm missing - more victims of rust which have been addressed over the years.

I loved this truck but I go through old bills and think about all the extra money that has been spent on pre-mature rust related failures and it makes me vomit a bit in my mouth....and I haven't even hit 100k miles yet.

If I wasn't commuting such a short haul (maybe 20 miles a day), I'd have traded her in on a new SS but can't really justify it right now. Oh well...nothing to do but hope things will get better...

I feel your pain so far I just needed brake lines. I even have the dreaded rust spots on the right front fender I just been keep sanding it and repaint it each year for now.

I'm still here.

I'll drive the Avalanche a couple of times a month. I'm doing my first brake replacement in May. Not bad for a truck with 226K miles.

Here I am!!! I got a 2004 2500 that I bought roughly 3 years ago and like several of the OG 2500 owners I'm considering letting it go for a Durmax. This is my second Avy and I love the trucks but I'm starting to get frustrated with mine. I tow less that 10k lbs and she is struggling bad on small hills, plus getting 5-7 mpg is no bueno. I've even thought about doing a Duramax/Allison conversion just so I could keep the body of the truck but I can't get the wife to sign off on that :beating: . I'm still wrong my options but just very hesitant about dropping more $$$$ to upgrade to airbags and other mods in an attempt to improve towing in an11 year old vehicle that will most likely soon need more parts from normal wear and tear.

How many miles on the plugs.. If your towing don't try to get 100K out of them change them every 50K. Simple things like a dirty MAS, air filter, dirty injectors or maybe even restricted cats and you will be down on power and show no codes.

Cheapest way to pick a few ponies is a cat back, tune, fresh plugs and wires. You've got the Flowmasters and CAI...

My last tune up was about a year ago around 75,000 miles and now I'm at 98,000. And I just did the factory recommended 100,000 mile service as well. Swapped all fluids, plugs, wires, 180 thermostat, K&N Air filter, flow master exhaust.

I think you are hitting the beloved 100,000 miles blues. Things like brakes shock and frontend parts need attention right around there.  Randy gave you some ideas to look at like the MAF and cleaning the injectors.

Another thing I was thinking about is what a couple members recommend is changing the front 02 sensors I'm a "if it's not broke don't fix it" type of person but the more I think about it the more it makes sense to change them.

Oh yeah it's either car payment or car repairs but don't throw the baby with the bath water, it will come a time when you know when to trade it.
