Reunel Rear towing bumper question

Hello all,

I have the Reunel welded receiver in the rear bumper and noticed when towing a trailer with a tongue weight of 250 lbs or greater a gap between the cladding and bumper top. The normal gap between the cladding and top of the bumper is about 1/4", when hooked up to a heavy trailer (wo weight dist hitch) the gap will go as much as 1".

If I connect the weight dist hitch the gap is normal.

All the rear bumper bolts are torqued to the bolt specs.

Is this normal, Reunel says that its normal, just thought I would check on the site.

Cheers!

Got a picture, if it's hanging off the rear of the frame the frame is flexing.

Bumper attached to rear frame.

I think your just seeing the WDH doing it's job.

I put some observations in your photos that amount to only questions I would have, not an engineering evaluation.

What's the rating on the hitch you have...

Thanks for your comments, I'll recheck bolt diameters and torque.
Puck on drivers side is fine, guess its time to replace this side puck.
Cheers!

How is this different than the factory hitch only grabbing the very end of the frame and bending it? Is it not why we buy the aftermarket hitch that bolts up much further back on the frame to spread the load? My trailer tongue weight is in excess of 1100 lbs. I would hate to see what it would do to that bumper.  :D

I am going to fabricate a bracket that will extend back on the frame as the reese and draw-tite do.

Any good sources for ordering the body insulator besides Rock Auto?

Thanks

Anyone replaced the stock mounts with the  ENERGY SUSPENSION 34150G urethane mounts?

Issues mixing and matching?
