Towing in what gear

How much does it weigh,
 
D or if you don't like the way she feels drop down to 3.
you can use tow haul mode but personally I don't like it
 
X2 D will be fine and yup tow/haul make mine shift entirely too hard.
 
I tow a 5k lb wake boat in D & tow/haul mode enabled all the time (4.10 gears). It'll shift down when I'm going up a hill at certain speeds, ie; 40 or 50 mph. If it is hunting up & down too much, I drop it down a gear & the RPMs at a comfortable rangE, usually around 3k RPM.
 
So at what point do you keep it in 3rd?

I just bought a trans temp gauge so I'll install that and check the temps.
 
When I'm going up or down a steep hill & the truck doesn't want to stay in 4th for very long..... at some point it will hunt up or down to keep the speed up. Drop it down a gear & keep the RPMs wherever your most comfortable (under about 4k or 4500 for me).
