Fuel Filter

On the fuel pump inside the gas tank.

So GM no longer uses the canister filter usually found on the driver's side frame rail? Sounds to me like they want us to pay them for more fuel injectors/cleanings. Forum comments please. This is news to me! I need some more education! :needhug:

GM stopped using them in the mid 2003 trucks, I think it was for safety reasons.

Our 2006 Cadillac CTS passenger car has the type you refer to on the frame rail near the passenger rear door.

Both my mechanic and I were surprised to find it and I had it replaced at 120K miles.

As MS03 2500 stated, they stopped using external fuel filters way back in mid 2003.

Some 14 model years ago.

Pretty much all manufacturers stuff them in the tank with the pump today and they are not as large so they save money.

People do not get hurt from fuel spraying under pressure
Poeple do not spill fuel and hurt environment.

engines tend to be ok with them in the tank.

Not a big deal IMO.

So is there a recommended change interval? Every XXX miles?
nope

When you change fuel pump you get a new one.

Manual lists normal maintence and copy for your year is linked on this page:

It's parts and add ons I was hoping to find.

I would like to replace the cup holder (that actually works) with an insert that replaces the

entire OEM insert. I have checked JC Whitney (they used to carry this kind of thing but

now they are so mainstream there is usually little point in looking there) and many other

accessory vendors on line, even Amazon came up with an empty sack!

So far no joy.

Thanks all the same!

What does a cup holder have to do with a fuel filter?
FYI the only swap out mod i have seen for the cup holders is owners who change the standard LT model cup holders for the LTZ version with spring loaded lids. Some use insert from a Denali or Hummer to match the brushed metal if they have a Z71 brushed metal dash vs. wood grain finish.

You could look in the 2004 resources, that link still works. Now keep in mind your AV 10 years old and part number do change.

Also in the Mods: interior  area you may get some ideas.

Thanks for the info.

This week I twice stopped for coffee (a big thing the Pacific NW) on the way to work and

placed the cup in the holder; twice I had a mess because the cup holder didn't grip the

cup enough to keep it upright. So I though I might find something in the "Parts and Add

Ons" section shown in the resources section. I thought there might be something there.

Sorry for the Faux Pas.
