I'm getting the typical fender rust above the wheels on both front and rear fenders. I've found patch panels for the rear but not the front. My question is are the profiles the same on the front and rear fender "flares"? If not has anyone found front patch panels rather than an entire fender? Thanks in advance.

Matt

That's how I feel about it. Plus fortunately I have the means to cut out the rust and weld in patch panels. That's why I was wondering if the curvatures are the same. I only need a 4"x12" section roughly but I don't have the tools or skills to make patches

from what i gather you have to be real good for a nice job ,im thinking more along the line of a moded fender flair

My truck has the rust in front of rear wheels behind the cladding at the door. Just pulled off the panel on the passenger side before I loose the panel. Drivers side is not nearly as bad yet.

What panels are available? These are the only areas on my truck that are rusting at the moment that I have found anyhow.

best price i found for the corners

mine didn't look that bad until i started cutting .

dam foam is everywhere

the outer and inner panel behind the rear wheel is held together by foam on the lip

I wish they did make a front fender panel, but to answer the question I know my front fender is longer than the rear so I think a patch panel will be too short

about 3 yrs ago i started to get the blister , so i cut out the bottom lip to peek in the back

since you don't see anything from the inside , and what a surprise <not> FOAMM

right where the blisters where , about the size of a fist , tried to neutralize the rust

as best i  could , well it came back this winter, ya i know cut it out .

on the list of to dos ,

that trim might work ,painted body color?

sure wish their was a trim piece to match the cladding to go the whole length

OP, where are you getting patch panels? I brought my AV into a body guy that cleaned the rust on the frame 8 years ago, but now both rear fenders are showing rust, and he said that he cannot use regular patch panels with the AV, he said the whole fender needs to be replaced

Is this true?

I know the guy, he is a good guy, he says he has never done an AV before, even when he cleaned my frame it was the first time.

james, here is a link I have seen posted elsewhere on this site

i so need to pick up a welder, grab some of the scrap doors I have in storage and play with welding sheet metal...

I seem to have a nack for it. My first mig job was almost perfect for the first 8 inches of it..

Well that takes care of the outer part, but what about the inner part?

Gbt thanks for that site, how did you know I needed a rear spring hanger.

BooomerX, Thanks for posting that link.  I have contacted the guy and hopefully his product will be available soon.  It may just be the answer to remedying the fender rust issue some have been waiting for.
