*should start off by saying this is a 2002 Z71 4x4 5.3L
last week both my ABS and parking brake light came on and i thought WTF. come to find out it was the C0265 code. Had a friend scan it on his TechII and he said it was the EBCM.
We did try what the bulletin said, clean off the ground, check the wiring, ect. that didn't work. Since I was due for new brake pads, I even did new pads and brake fluid, and while i was under there, checked the ABS sensors/wiring and it was all still fine.
I see there is a solution for taking the EBCM off, opening it up, and resoldering some points, but that's a little outside my abilities. I was wondering though, before having to purchase new, could i roll the dice on a used unit.... and does these EBCM's only go to 2002 avalanche's? or could 1 from a Suburban work ? That or, which I may do, there is a local business that fixes them for $70.
One place i called asked if it had traction control or not, and to be honest.. I have no idea. I never looked for it let alone a button to turn it on/off. I was under the asumption that the 2wd versions got T/C and the 4x4 versions did not.
