Hello
My wiper blades don't last a year.  All I've tried stop contouring to windshield and misses upper half of driverside windshield.  I have been told to try silicone not rubber blades.  Rubber will stiffen and degrade.  Any thoughts on this and suggestions on brand names?
Thanks

Are you getting the correct wiper blades? I used the Bosch winter ones and there is a special version for curved windshields. The normal ones worked but not as good as the correct ones.

Depending on age of the upper arm assembly you might want to replace that as well as the wiper blade insert. I know some members switch to a GM Police Package wiper blades for the Tahoe. I don't have the part numbers but they should be in a old thread somewhere.....

I use winter blades also they seem to be the best all-around blade in snow country. If I don't use them the cheaper Anco blade seem to lift off the windshield at highway speed. I just think of them a regular maintenance item change them yearly.

Do you have a bug shield?  My wipers do the same thing - smack dab on the drives side.  Passenger side is fine.  GO figure.  I have bug shield and have often wondered if that's the culprit as my issues seem to be worse at speed than when sitting or going slower.

mine work fine and I have bugshield.

They may miss that last inch near the side trim but not a big deal.

I suggest you check the spring in the wiper arm as it helps to hold qiper against glass and after time the metal can fatigue and they lose their strength...

I use the blade type from Bosch as walmart tends to always have decent price

I always use the blade style wipers that don't have any moving parts that need to be covered to be a winter wiper.

They cost more but my experience is that they work better. They tend to follow the slope of the windshield better and don't rise up off the windshield at higher speeds.

Since winters are rough on wipers I tend to replace them every spring regardless of condition.

I prefer using the Rain-X wipers with Rain-x washer fluid. It really does make a difference when it rains.

Here is something you folks may want to try, it really works well.

I also use RainX but the film that il leaves can be problematic

I would not use Steel wool as I have seen it scratch before.

I would use glass polish -
Zaino makes some http://www.zainostore.com/product/Z-12.html
griots has all sorts of stuff - clay and polish = https://www.griotsgarage.com/category/wash+detail/glass+plastic+liquids.do
as does Eastwood - https://www.eastwood.com/autobody/plastic-glass-repair/glass-polishing.html

It won't scratch if you use 0000 steel wool, I have been using it for years.

TO each their own with experience.

I like to play it safe as windshields are expensive.

Hello, I am interested in the Police Pursuit Package wipers for my 2002 AV Z71 4x4
My local dealer looked confused while checking part numbers.  This is what he gave me.  Two different styles.
1.  Vehicles built before 7-22-07  22917497 leftside $58, 22917498 rightside  $56
2.  Vehicles built after 7-23-07      22917499 leftside $52, 22917500 leftside    $53
3.  Blades only  25877402    $25

Please let me know if parts are correct.
Thanks
