How to hook battery to exterior battery maintainer?
« on: January 8, 2019, 06:20:45 AM »

Don't drive avalanche a lot, want to keep battery charged without opening hold every time. How can I run a wire from battery positive post to front end without opening hood?

Go to your local truck/trailer or plow supplier and look for something like this...

https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Anderson-Power-Products/992-BK?qs=yoCgdRjoRtE2JM2SrL7%252bOg%3D%3D&gclid=Cj0KCQiAsdHhBRCwARIsAAhRhskb4nXmbv0Dq7wPQONnzHChve8ABn2MqxyzGbEjCKjrC-gXYgcwJUYaAh8mEALw_wcB

You can get these with a weather proof plug. You can also bolt them to somewhere on your bumper or many other options. You see many plows with this type of connector to allow them to remove the plow in the summer.

You could also check out on board battery charger and plug setups at a marine supply place or bass boat type of setup so you don't have to drag out charger.(just an extension cord to the waterproof plug on bumper or hidden in grill somewhat).

I used this setup when I had my '04 as a summer toy. Just ran the wire from the battery though the front of the grill and plugged it in. Stuffed the wire into the grill when driving it. You'll need the extension to do this with your battery being on the passenger side as opposed to the first gen being on the front driver's side of the engine bay.
