Anyone change the oil pan gasket on '07 vortec 5.3 non 4 wheel drive? I could use some tips as mine is leaking. I have the gasket already and when I got underneath to attempt, it looked a bit challenging.

I had my entire oil pan, with included oil pan gasket, replaced last summer.

The front diff can be unbolted and moved far enough forward and down, then secured, to clear the oil pan.

The cross member under the engine will need to be removed.

The gasket is riveted to the oil pan and will need to be drilled out.

You will need some gasket maker RTV to be applied to the corners of the gasket before you reattach the oil pan.

Take this opportunity to also replace the oil pick up tube o-ring while you have the oil pan off.

I chose to replace the entire oil pickup tube and o-ring assembly, when I did mine.

The assembly is not very expensive and you are assured that you are installing the correct o-ring, since there are several to choose from.
