02 Avalanche w/ 5.3L vortec High oil pressure Issues oil lvl good no leaks

started last night no odd noise coming from engine but the gauge is between 275 - 550 kpa on idle
while driving sometimes peeks out to 550 when getting up to speed at 3,000 RPM
nothing has changed with the truck before this started happening idk what could be causing it

It is possible the oil pressure sensor is going bad.

There seems to be a lot of discussion about this on Facebook lately.

Probably oil pressure sensor throwing erratic readings. That oil pressure sensor is a major PITA. Basically behind intake on the drivers side near the trans.

I had one fail on my '03 and it went HIGH also...  it is a very inexpensive part and not that hard to do as DIY...  note that you won't be able to see when wrenching this out (right behind firewall) and must go by feel to get this sensor out.  trust your hands and fingers to find the nut fitting.  No other steps were necessary but unplugging a cable, unscrewing and screwing the new one in, reattach cable.
