Need help here...my painted tailgate cap has gotten chewed up by the poor design and me not being very careful.  Anyone know where to get a good replacement?  I'm wondering if i obtained a plastic one and had it painted to match that it would hold up better.  Thoughts please.

Take a look at both pages in this link....

Another option is to get a Bedslide device so your tailgate is protected and you don't have to climb into bed to retrieve things.
https://www.bedslide.com/
(you may have to call them since they no longer list the AV Bedslide buy they used to make one.)
Another thing that may offer some protection is a BedRug mat for tailgate,

If you decide to go the bed slide route, try the cargo glide.  They still list that they have a model to fit the Avalanche at http://www.cargoglide.com/products/cargoglide-cg1000/

Have had one in my 2013 avalanche that was installed within the first month of owning.  The only thing I had to do to it was to cut off the bolt threads that extended down to keep them from hitting the tailgate when pushing it back in with a heavy load on it.

Is this difficult to remove?  I read that you tilt up to slide out and remove.  Is it that simple? And can One person do that?

And how long to remove?  (5 min or an hour, etc.)

I ask as I sometimes put a canoe or kayaks in bed, and would need the full height of the bed.

TIA

SpottyJ if no one replies you might call Cargoglide customer service since it appears each truck bed has a different install setup. The AV setup could be different.

I know with my discontinued CargoPro by Duraliner the whole thing is mounted to the four lower cargo tie-down bolt locations and is very quick to install or remove. I imagine it could be done by one person but two is easier to handle since it's bulky. From what I have seen about the Bedslide version for the AV it was installed the same as my CargoPro.

That one looks really nice - and expensive. The one I made from wood, casters, and hurculiner 8 years ago is still going strong, and you just pull it out and set in in the garage when you need to remove it. Whichever you choose - it is truly one of the best things about the avalanche (besides the ride and the saddle bags ram seems to think they thought up)...
