I'm purchasing a used Avalanche and I need to know how to tell which rear axle it has.  The salesman's word alone is not good enough for me (some of these guys don't know anything), so I want to see it for myself.

So, how do I tell just by looking?

Thanks,
Scott Gunn

Scott:

Look at sticker in glove box for three letter codes (RPO codes).  Find ones that begin with G (they are listed in alphabetical order).  GT4 is 3.73, GT5 is 4.10, and G80 is locking rear axle.  It's that simple!

Is there a place to find out what all of the codes mean?

Edit - I found it, nevermind.
