Has anyone ever had their cladding painted with Rhino or Line-X bedliner? I was talking with a guy today in "Capworld" and I told him that I was interested in getting my cladding painted and he suggested it. The texture would remain the same I am guessing, and I like the rugged look, plus my Av is black so the color should be an easy match. I just wondered if anyone else had done that b4. He said he did one about a year ago and it looked good, but I would trust you guys first ;)

thnx,
BMore Av

lordvader has done this with plasti-kote bedliner spray.
he has picks on another website...

seems to be holding up well.....I have been thinking about doing this also.

That is what I was planning. I know it holds up really good on some of my rifles stocks. I am just waiting for the weather to break.

Good luck

I've intended to ask this same question for quite a while and never remembered to get around to it.

I have a black 02 Z66, and am not really fond of the light grey cladding after seeing the newer dark charcoal/blackish cladding on current models. I like the durability of the cladding, and that stops me from just painting it black, as many others have done with their cladding. I drive 100mi to work, and travel a lot in the Av, so I want something just as tough as the cladding itself, and paint will chip, scuff, scratch and so on from daily driving, while the cladding will not.

I'd also like to keep the texture of the cladding, nothing rougher certainly. Gritty cladding seems like it may be porous and hard to keep clean. Any ideas on the different brands of liners durability and UV resistance, and textures?

DS,

one option as well is what Alaska_Av used on parts of his cladding with his thread http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php?board=115;action=display;threadid=22985... he used a product called Zalotone.

Go to http://www.zolatoneaim.com/z20_1.html for more information

I thought that I read here a long time ago that the bedliner sprays would not stick to the cladding! Anyone?

Butch

I belive it was mentioned that the only way it will "stick" to the cladding is to totally "wrap" the cladding in it, but not sure if anyone knows for sure other then the previous owners of the Sema AV... maybe contacting them for info on it would be an option.....

Grey

The bedliner paint I used is holding up extremly well on my cargo covers. I will be using the paint on so of my cladding areas as well soon as the weather here gets warmer.

you could also try the Urethane cladding coat on this website.

Thanks for the info so far.......

Another question for you all: What about the paint that Chevy used on the tailgate and rear seat areas, the sort of bumpy black coating of some sort. Anyone know what it is? That stuff has withstood all of the hell I can dish out on a daily basis without any damage at all.

Do you have a link to a thread that describes your application? Can you tell us about the process? It looks great, and I've been wanting to do this, as well...

I am thinking that it is molded plastic with that texture in it, not a coating.

here's lordvader's info:
++++++++++++++++++++++
bought from AutoZone.
Plasti-Kote non-skid truck Bed Liner.
taped off the rubber seals, lightly sanded the cover with 400 grit paper.
1 can per cover.
Quick dry spatter, easily recoated, resists fading.
Cost $7.98 per can.
++++++++++++++++++++++

plasti-kote comes in colors - black, white, red and blue.

I was thinking about red. I can't find any locally. just other brands in black. still thinking about red.

I believe i saw this at http://midwayautosupply.com/

Hey Grey,

you have some connections at the SEMA show don't you? Maybe we can get some info on that Av and look at the process that was taken to do the cladding. Waiting for your reply,

Fire

no connections with sema show... although I was listed as a dealer and able to get tickets to go when I was like 16... :rolleyes:

You are correct. It is a very easy process.

oh....forgot to add:

feels like sandpaper and has a low luster.

++++++++++++++++

I've previously PM'd Lordvader...thanks Lordvader!

Thanks for the info LordVader and FSUGuy. I'm picking up some cans tomorrrow and will try it this weekend. If the panels work out ok, the Ghost is gonna give the cladding a shot.... :eek:
