I've seen several theads on front mounts for the 1500 but none for a 2500  any suggestions or links would be appreciated  thanks  eddy

No one I know of has found one. Some have done homemade jobs. You can get one on EBay that is not in the center of the bumper. They sell one that will replace the front tow hooks. I have two of them waiting patiently in the garage for me to install them. Worthless to push a trailer but they will work just fine for a front mounted winch and a good point to lift with a HiLift jack if you need to change a tire or get unstuck. It all depends on what you want to do with them. The EBay ones were only $80 something each.

That's the only ones I have seen too. I didn't bite, but the $80 seems to be what I recall.

There is plenty of interest out here for a good quality product.  There is some incentive for someone do it right and save the specs. for future business.

It's either that or a SOR bumper

If you are going to go to a welding shop and have it done, you can make it very easy. Purchase the front receiver setup from WARN that is designed for the 1500. It almost works on the 2500, but the mounts do not line up perfectly. They could just weld new mounts.

My favorite idea is to get the two receiver's that replace the tow hooks, the one's I already have. Then have someone build a bar between the two with a receiver in it. Then I can take it off when not in use. It would be very versatile. You could push a trailer, install hooks or shackles, a winch or even modify bull bar mounts to install in the two receiver tubes.

avking : that sounds like it would be a hot set-up. :)

It would be very versatile. Just have all front end accessories mount into the receiver tubes. Fast and easy changover for whatever type of driving you will be doing that day. I doubt I will do it, but it would be cool. I don't think it would be that expensive if you had a decent welder around you. I think you would also have to be ok with the idea of things not being 100% straight, level and true. But, with what we are talking about it should not matter, as long as it looks good.

SORRY do not under stand the :100% straight, level and true.

My fab shop deals with tolorances to 6 decimal places. CNC

And I agree:as long as it looks good.

(for some reason the smiley inserts are not working)

Are you saying the same one fits both a 1500 & 2500? How does it mount to the 2500?

I ordered this one from Hitchsource.com : http://www.hitchsource.com/product_info.php?products_id=25489

I called both them and Curt to make sure it will fit without cutting the cladding.  Seems like there are two mounting options.

Here is the Curt applications page: http://www.curtmfg.com/app%20guide/Chev2.htm

I also called everyone else: hidden hitch, drawtite etc. - No one else had one that would fit.

Need to put it on this weekend, I will post pics if sucessful.

??? with out cuting clading. ???

on my Z71 had to cut bout 3x3 Sq right under Plate for reciver to stick out. This is cool it is easy to access and is at the Appx same height as rear reciver.

WITH OR WITHOUT CLADDING IS NOT A PROBLEM.  I have a front receiver hitch.

DADDIO2624 - can you post pics of your hitch?

Still haven't looked at the one I got but I should get to it this weekend.  Be glad to hear about alternatives if this does not work out.

The Curt unit does not work - apparently the 2005 Suburban 1500 and Avalanche 2500 have different frame rails than the Silverado.

Basically the thing has two bolt holes but the frame only has one (where the tow hook mounts facing down.

Hey Highland Ranger,

I'm sure I speak for many.  Thanks for going out there and being the guinea pig.  Keep us informed at what will work for that front receiver.  And I'll do the same.

Do you know if there's difference with the 2500 and 3500 chevy pickups?? Reese makes one for the Silverado? 2500 and 3500.? Haven't called to find out if it will fit the Av.?Check out Hitchfinder.com

If it's for the 2500HD/3500, it may not work with the Av. The 2500HD and 3500 use the same frame, but it's different than the Av's, which is the same frame as the Suburban.

Not sure about the regular 2500 (non-HD).

This is the original I tried: Curt 31302

Did not fit - frame rails on 2500 Avy are not the same as my 1500 Suburban - beefier and different geometry

The guys at Curt through the Hitchsource folks then suggested this one: http://www.hitchsource.com/docs/cu/31108.pdf

Model 31108

Although it looks like it may fit, I haven't got to ordering it yet.

If anyone does, be interested in pics and hearing about the install (particularly if you have to cut cladding.)

Links:
http://www.curtmfg.com
http://www.hitchsource.com

Both companies helpful and nice people - Hitchsource promptly refunded my money including shipping when the hitch did not fit.

Great research Highland Ranger!? the 31108 from CURT does work.? It used the existing nuts, but had to use the longer bolts.? I used my floor jack and did it in less than an hour with the cutting (not much).?

That looks real clean Red-2002-Avalanche.  I've been thinking about fabing up one that slides into the frame rails in place of the tow hooks and going straight across.  More of a permenent winch mount / bumperguard.  I'd like to see how this works out for you with a winch installed.  Keep us posted

I had purchased my 31108 from the Road Rack. ?They are great people here in Sacramento. ?The inital cost was going to be $138.00. ?They gave me the AAA discount. ?And when I came to pick it up I was allowed to apply the online Road Rack discount of 10% which made my net cost $113.00.

There is currently a 10% discount you can print up on their site. ?And the price was a surprize to me.
