Check out what I did to my '02. Didn't like the idea of having the unit on the windshield where everyone could see it, and I've heard a lot about glare being a problem up that high.

I installed a Garmin StreetPilot c320 (cuz it's awesome and didn't cost me close to a grand). Above that is the Navcam monitor. Also, have a Panasonic touchscreen head unit - big fan of the touchscreen obviously.  Cheesy

In this location, there is extremely little glare, if any. And the only way you could see it is to actually look IN the vehicle. Now I just need to replace the blue frame with a gray one or something.

Well, the only real problem that I encountered was removing the ashtray mount. I basically destroyed the thing, which I tried not to do. The mount that the tray slides on is attached on each side to the dash, and in the back a big metal lip goes behind the plastic. If you've ever taken the tray out you know what I mean. Anyways, it was a bear getting that thing out, but since I don't smoke at all it's a non-issue.

I actually used the GPS mount that came in the package that was meant for the windshield. It's hard to explain, but I ended up using the windshield mount along with the dash circle thingy that has that superstrong 3M tape stuff on it. The other cool thing is that it's easy to unclip from the mount and take somewhere else if you want to.

Thanks... that's the 320... what you can't see is about 3 feet of cigarette lighter power cord pushed back in the dash behind it haha...

Yeah basically. That sticky tape disc barely fit in there though, but it's 10 kinds of strong, more that enough to hold it in place.

I think if I read this correctly its mostly the mount that is fixated, the unit itself is still removable for them cold nights.

hahaha  display size is 2.8” W x 2.1” H     but on the subject of extra light.....nice segway...my ashtray light is now an annoyance in the evening hours, and I can't get my fingers around it, but think I can block it with some black duct tape
