How long did your stock AC Delco Battery Last
« Reply #325 on: 12/03/14 10:36 AM »

5-years (2002 - 2007) on the OE battery.

Replaced with Kirkland (Costco) battery that went another 5-years (2007 - 2012), with 3 of those years in Arizona heat. This battery didn't die or leave us stranded, but it did start to sound a little slow at start-up, so I had it tested at next service. Tech told me that he wasn't even sure how the battery was even still starting the truck at the level it tested at, but it did.

Most recent battery is an Interstate battery from Costco. Hopefully, another 5-years!

Just replaced the one in my 2010.  I left something plugged in overnight a couple of times by accident and from then on it needed a jump in the morning.  I replaced it with a crappy one from O'Reilly because they were the only ones open at that hour.

Mine lasted right at 5 years(2009-2014).  I was out of town(naturally) when mine went down and wouldn't start in the hotel parking lot.  Had to get a jump to get going  :(, so I went and got what was available at an Autozone.  Optima was what I wanted, but couldn't find one around(in a small town), so I got what I could, and working well so far.

bought mine a few years old and it already had a replacement battery in it from Les Schwab, i recently replaced it with a unit from Costco and added the additional battery to the front spare carrier plate and purchased a new rubber bracket to secure it. I keep it charged as a reserve / spare should I ever need it.

Bought a spare too, comes in handy in winter. Great if you RV without hydro. Used it to boost 2 cars this winter. Too bad one was a VW beetle. The dam thing wouldn't start on my spare  and like a dummy I connected it to my Avy battery to rev the engine for more power.... it took my battery to like zero volts and I could smell rubber or electrical burning... hopped out of the Avy and yanked the cables off... Good old Gm protection on electrical system protected the truck battery and alternator from frying. Must say it smelt for 2 days, but all good. Try to help someone and almost cooked my system. Pretty sure the battery was shorting in the VW, my kids car did the same and it happened to me 3 weeks ago when I parked at the airport on the roof deck...bummer  :E: . 2 feet of snow...cold.. and a dead car in a airport garage.
When i tested my spare battery in the AVY. it was solid even after 4 months in the cold. I re-charged it in 5 minutes which means lots of power. I won't doubt it again.

0k you are probably not going to believe me but i bought my 04 used last month so it is 11 years old i had a small electrical issue  and  took it in to get the battery replaced because i noticed that the battery was fine but didnt seem to last more than a couple of mins without the engine running  well long story short when the guy replaced the battery i noted that the battery was the original ac delco battery he showed me the manf code showing that it was 11 years old . it was time to retire that battery but it gave very good service .

I'm still running the stock battery. 150,000kms and 7 years in Canadian cold. I think it's due though.

That's impressive. A few claims of long lasting batteries. The few Japanese cars my family owned, never got past 4 yrs, alternator's too. I still say the north american engineering is superior based on personal experience.

First owner bought 2011 LTZ December 2011.  I bought it January 2018.  Failed this weekend.  To the point where a smart battery charger gave up on it after 20 minutes.  Told our local Les Schwab I wanted top of the line ($180).  They were busy so I got to put in myself.  No memory loss or relearning neccessary like some dealers claim.

Guys weekend next long weekend.  Good thing I got the battery issue of the way.  They are amused by my push start/jumper cable adventure stories from the 1980s with my VW Bus.  I don’t think they would like to participate in that drama.  Most likely sit around and laugh at the closest bar while I call AAA.
