I am in need of some help here.  As you know,  it's football season and I love to tailgate.  This is the first year I've had my Avalanche and I've got some questions about powering everything when we're tailgating.  Listed below is everything that will require power

Head unit
2 amplifiers
2 Headrest monitors
26" LCD TV
Fan

I didn't have everything listed above when I had my Jeep so I never really had to worry about killing my battery.  Every so often I would turn my Jeep on and let it run for a little while and then cut it back off.  However,  I have already killed my battery twice on my Av just listening to the radio while washing it.  I really think I'm going to have a problem with everything else hooked up.  I haven't purchased a power inverter yet for the LCD or the fan but will get one this weekend.

I've read over some posts about running dual batteries.  I don't know that I necessarily want to be able to switch back and forth between batteries, but I definitely think an additional battery would help me out.  What would be the easiest/best way to go about adding another battery or making sure I can walk back to my truck after games and turn the key and leave?  I'm up for other options as well if adding another battery is not the best idea.  Here's a couple pics of my new grill I fabbed up, as well as the headrest monitors.

I'd definitely do a dual battery and hook all your accessories to it, leaving your stock battery for starting purposes

Would it be possible to run a second battery for a little while without using the painless kit?  Also, how long does it take to install the painless kit?  Do the batteries need to be matched?

I use a Die Hard Portable Power 1150 for tailgating. Its lightweight and allows several hours of TV watching.

FitdocSR,
That looks really good.  I'll definitely have to keep that in mind.  You coming over to Greenville for the game?  Your crew is more than welcome to come tailgate with us.

gustyhillbaby,
Well,  the grill is actually my old grill.  The grill itself was perfect but the frame was falling apart.  I had been wanting something like this for a long time so I took the idea to our fab shop at work and told them what I had in mind.  A couple days later I had the mount.  There is a plate on the mount which the grill slides on and bolts down.  It works great and I can use it as either gas or charcoal.  Sure beats the $700 for the Freedom Grill.

One more question,  I read a post where the painless kit will not work with 07s because of the higher amperage of the alternator.  Anybody know the validity of this and is there an alternative?

I bought them on ebay.  They are actually real Chevy headrests that someone had taken out of their truck to put headrests with built in screens in.  I got them for $30!
