National Meet 2003 - Tuesday, July 22, 2003:

Tuesday, July 22, 2003:

7:00 AM - 9:00 AM:  Registration.  Come on over to Convention Center II in the Ramkota by Legion One for registration.  There you will get your ID badge and event materials.  Members of the Rapid City Convention & Visitors Bureau will be available to answer your questions.

8:30 AM – 10:00 AM:  You'll have a buffet breakfast at the Ramkota with your fellow club members.  The Meal is included with your registration fee and you'll have a wide choice of food to select from.  Speakers will include an official greeting from the city of Rapid City, officials from General Motors and members of the Avalanche Club.  Then it's off to pick the activity of your choice!
 
10:30 AM – 5:30 PM:  Cruise to Badlands National Park.
 
You'll cruise east out to Interior and spend the day at Badlands National Park  You'll do some hiking and exploring and enter the Sage Creek Wilderness where you'll see prairie dogs and bison.  The trip will take you to little visited sections of Badlands National Park and will give you a chance to get your Avalanche dusty.  You'll be provided a meal and drinks in the park.  Or, you might want to...

10:30 AM – 5:30 PM:  Cruise to Devils Tower National Monument.
 
You'll cruise west out to world famous Devils Tower National Monument in Wyoming on the western edge of the Black Hills.  Once there you'll hike the 3.8 mile long Red Beds Trail, which gives you spectacular views of the tower.  After you'll visit a prairie dog town.  On your return trip you'll drive through incredible Spearfish Canyon and stop at Bridal Veil Falls.  From there you'll pass through Deadwood and into the Black Hills for your return to Rapid City.  You'll be provided a meal and drinks in the park.  Or, you might want to...
 
10:30 AM – 5:30 PM:  Cruise to Deadwood, South Dakota for a historical tour.
 
You'll head west to Deadwood, South Dakota and visit the wax museum that offers an excellent history to the Black Hills area.  Then it's a tram ride through Deadwood up to Boot Hill to see the graves of Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hichock.  Lunch will be eaten in town and then it's off to the Broken Boot Gold Mine for a little history and a little dirty with some gold panning at the end.
 
4:00 PM – 6:00 PM:  Registration.  Come on over to Convention Center II in the Ramkota by Legion One for registration.  There you will get your ID badge and event materials.  Members of the Rapid City Convention & Visitors Bureau will be available to answer your questions.

5:30 PM – 10:00 PM:  Attend a cowboy supper with show and lumber jack demonstration.

You'll cruise with the club to the Flying T Chuckwagon Supper & Show where you'll be treated to country music, comedy, and a lumberjack demonstration.  After dinner you'll head to nearby Mount Rushmore to witness the evening lighting ceremony.  Or, you might want to...

6:30 PM - 10:00 PM:  Visit Wall, South Dakota and see Wall Drug.
 
Ya, it's a tourist trap but it's a must see tourist trap!  This will include a drive into Badlands National Park to visit Sea Beds Jungle to watch the sunset.
