7:00 AM - 9:00 AM: Registration.
Come on over to Convention Center II in the Ramkota by Legion One for
registration. There you will get your ID badge and event materials.
Members of the Rapid City Convention & Visitors Bureau will be available
to answer your questions.
The day is packed with possible
activities. Make your choice from any of the following:
9:00 AM – 6:00 PM: Caving tour of the Black Hills.
You will visit Jewel Cave National Monument and go on a 1-1/2 hour tour of
this spectacular cave network, one of the longest in the world.
After that you'll head east to have lunch in Custer, South Dakota and then
over to Wind Cave National Park to go on another cave tour that lasts for
1-1/2 hours. Then you'll do some hiking at Wind Cave before
returning to Rapid City. Limited to a maximum of sixty people.

9:30 AM – 5:30 PM: Cruise to Badlands National Park.
You'll cruise east out to Interior and spend the day at Badlands National
Park You'll do some hiking and exploring and enter the Sage Creek
Wilderness where you'll see prairie dogs and bison. The trip will
take you to little visited sections of Badlands National Park and will
give you a chance to get your Avalanche dusty. You'll be provided a

10:00 AM – 6:00 PM: Cruise through the Black Hills.
First you'll head south out of Rapid City and travel part of the Black
Hills Highway to Custer State Park. There you'll drive part of the
Wildlife Loop Road where you'll be sure to see bison and burros. Be
sure to bring carrots to be the burros who will gladly walk right up to
your Avalanche! From there you'll continue south to Hot Springs,
South Dakota to Evans Plunge, a massive complex of swimming pools and
water fun heated naturally to 87 degrees. After a couple of hours of
splashing around you'll head back north through Custer State Park and
drive the Needles Highway and Iron Mountain Road and see Mount Rushmore
and the Crazy Horse Monument. Or, you might want to...
8:30 AM – 6:00 PM: Take a tour to learn the history of the Sioux.
You'll be doing a lot of driving today but you'll learn so much about the
history of the Black Hills. Your Native American guide will meet you
in Rapid City and you'll head east to Badlands National Park. From
their your follow in the footsteps of the Sioux as they moved south in
1890 pursued by US troops. You'll drive out across the prairie to
Stronghold Table and see where they did the Ghost Dance. Then you'll
head to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and visit the museum before
heading south to see the solemn, lonely, desolate site of Wounded Knee.
It is a day that will leave you reflecting upon the past, and wondering
about the future. Four-wheel drive is REQUIRED for this trip and

11:00 AM – 5:30 PM: Attend a four-wheel drive school and go off-roading.
A qualified instructor and guides will run a four-wheel drive school and
then a four-wheel drive tour to follow. You'll start off getting
basic instruction and going on Class I, II and then III trails as your
skill improves. Four-wheel drive and self-recovery gear is REQUIRED.
Limited to 25 Avalanches maximum. Class III trails have the
potential to cause vehicle damage. The location is to be determined.
5:00 PM – 7:00 PM: Registration. Come on over to Convention
Center II in the Ramkota by Legion One for registration. There you
will get your ID badge and event materials. Members of the Rapid
City Convention & Visitors Bureau will be available to answer your
questions.
6:30 PM - 10:00 PM: Visit Wall, South Dakota and see Wall Drug on
the Super Cruise.
Ya, it's a tourist trap but it's a must see tourist trap! This will be
the "big cruise" of as many Avalanches as we can get. Well head east down
Intestate 90 to Wall to visit Wall Drug as a group. Once in town you
can fan out to find a place for dinner and shop at world famous Wall Drug.

9:00 PM - 1:00 AM: Star Gazing at Badlands National Park.
The moon won't be up and the sky will be blacker than you can imagine.
A mosaic of stars, planets, the Milky Way and if you're patient a meteor
or two will be seen. You'll meet your guide in Wall, South Dakota
and then head south into the park. There you'll drive out to a dark
secluded spot where you'll be educated on the North American summer sky.
As it gets close to midnight it will be time to pack up and head back to
Rapid City, South Dakota. Bring a telescope and a blanket, you won't
regret it!
