2006 What's New

Going into its fourth model year and its third year with the current interior design, the Chevrolet Avalanche had major changes made to how options are bundled.  Previously the LS and LT option packages, found on the Silverado, were not offered, but that model has changed.  Factory production of 2006 models started in August, 2005 and availability started in mid-September.

Model changes from the 2004 year include:

  • The Driver's Information Center (DIC) becomes optional

  • The automatic dimming day/night rear view mirror with eight point compass and temperature display becomes optional

  • Steering wheel mounted controls become optional

  • HomeLink three button controller becomes optional

  • Power adjusted pedals become optional

  • 3.42 ratio rear axle becomes a no-charge option on 2500 series Avalanche and standard on the 1500 series Avalanche

  • Auxiliary transmission oil cooler returns as part of the Trailering Equipment package

  • Touch screen in-dash DVD navigation system with integrated stereo controls becomes an available option

  • Chrome exterior appearance package becomes available on 1500 series Avalanches with the WBH option package

  • Camper style mirrors with power fold and heat return to the 2006 model line up as an option, but is only available on LT, Z-71, and Premium On-Road Suspension package equipped Avalanches.

  • New exterior colors include Sandstone Metallic and Bermuda Blue

  • Dark Green will be deleted as an exterior color choice

  • The Z-66 package is renamed as the Premium On-Road Suspension Package
