Can I trust you??
YES! You may have read my posts before, but some of you are new... The only public "record" of me is my Ebay Profile! 116 positives as of wriitng this...

But I wanted you to build me one!!
Patience grasshopper... I am about 2 weeks away from being able to commit to building these for people.. AND I still have to figure out how to ship them! (If you have ideas, PLEASE let me know...)

NOTE: I will be on the road quite a bit until after the Holiday Weekend, so I will probably only have time to respond briefly in the morning and more definitely in the evening. Starting July 2nd until July 8th, I MAY be totally offline. I will try to take care of all requests ASAP. Thanks for your understanding in this matter!

I can tell you all, since I was one of the first people that Brian shown the board to first, this is a must have item to be able to haul stuff inside the cab! (Dog's, Supplies, any item you would like to stack or stand up! I will tell you that it is something that in the near future I will be making one for my AV! The plans are very detailed (if you know Brain that is one thing he is detailed!! ZANIO!!) Anyway this things will make a great addition to your Avalanche and are not that hard to build!!

Wvusquatch

My 2 Cents!

Kinda steep huh.......for some plans.......

Why not be more avy and give the plans away....? ;D

WOW! If i had to pay to learn about all the other mods available, i'd go broke! Good thing there are no "paying plans" for the always on DRL, or my flushed in GPS, or any of the other FREE mods available here. Not to mention the great post on : "EZ Slider" Bedslide for less than $75!!! Be a true Av'er and give!

I've been wanting to get the Mid-deck done for a very long time.  But I did not ever make the time to do all the detailed plans to get the board to fit.  So I paid the 15.00 for the download plans.  They are very good plans and I think they are worth 15.00.  Although if I had done them I would have put them up for free.  But that is just me because not only do I give alot of Bullsh@!, But I also give whatever help I can to my fellow Avalanchers.  I still do not agree with having to pay for these plans, but I did it out of shear laziness on my part.  I do hope Bmontini feels a little bit of shame for making us pay so much for 8 pages of bytes on a computer.

these aren't hard to build without plans i did it, lay out a peice of posterboard and cut out the grooves along the midgate then just measure how long it needs to be from side to side and to the back of the seats. Then I grabbed some foam padding and carpet from Lowes... badda boom badda bing

I love this thing, it works out great cause no one ever rides in my back seat and I always have my two huge totes of detail stuff and tools back there.

Hey Brian,

I just downloaded and printed your plans. As a retired architect, I can appreciate how much work and thought went into your design even before drawing such detailed plans are sir.

However, I did not see how to pay $15.00 for them as another member mentioned a long while ago.
How do I send you the super reasonable donation?

With appreciation,

Don Oberloh

The OP hasn't logged in since August 19, 2008.

I doubt you will get a response.

Brian hasn't been on this site in over a decade, I think you may have to keep your $15

His ebay profile is still active. Oberloh, maybe you can reach out to him through ebay, maybe he still has the plans.

So...it’s a board that sits on your folded down seat backs? What am I missing?

Basically.

What you may be failing to see is the utility of the mod.

This mod provides a (in my case, fully carpeted) flat cargo storage area behind the front seats.

They make it much easier to load a lot of cargo and luggage into the rear area of the cab without having to deal with the uneven surfaces of the plastic back sides of the folded down rear seats.

They give you a better place to load groceries and other similar bagged items than on the rear seats and floorboard.

They provide a better place to transport our dog.

She seems to enjoy the space provided as opposed to sitting in the seat.

I consider the Mid-Deck Mod to be the most useful mod I have ever done to my truck.

I have a set of the 60/40 version of the Mid-Deck Mod for both my 2004 EXT and my 2003 Z-66.

They never leave either truck and I use them all of the time.

Ok. For your dog makes sense. Dogs can damage seats and the hair must be easer to vacuum up. Why not use the bed of the truck?

Let me ask you if it would be better if it was level? Or do you like it sloped?

I don't let my dog ride in my open bed.

Never have, never will.

But, that's just me.

She is perfectly happy riding safely inside the cab.

The mod is used way more for hauling items than it is for transporting the dog.

It gets used to haul something practically every day.

Lately, it has been covered in tools and supplies for a house remodel I am doing.

I just wanted to show you one possible use for the mod.

It actually sits fairly level.

Not perfectly, but close enough is doesn't make any difference and I have never really noticed.

The surface does not sit anywhere as sloped as the lowered midgate.

That probably has something to do with the thickness and mounting point of the midgate.

You can see in the pictures that the rearmost edge of the mod sits much higher than the hinge of the midgate.

I suppose someone could modify the bottom side of the mod to get it to sit perfectly level, but I see no real advantage to doing so.

It's not really that far off.

Plus, adding some type of shim would prevent the 40 side from sitting on top of the 60 side as cleanly when you configure it so you have access to the passenger side seat, as shown in one of the pictures.

And when you do take the entire mod out of the truck, a mod with shims would not stack as cleanly when stored.

I think I will leave mine the way it is.

This may not be a mod for everyone, but it serves me very well.

This is a cool mod, but won’t work for me. I’m 6’4” and when my rear seats are folded down, my drivers seat won’t go all the way back, unless it’s in a totally straight up position, which won’t work for me. I can deal with it for a short amount of time (right knee hits the dash) but not a long term thing.

I have my driver seat all the way back...you can remove the headrests on the back seats and they will fold all the way down... will be a snug fit though.

I can understand where 6'4" might be a bit tight.

I am 6' even and even though the seat is not all the way back, the position works fine for me and my front seat passengers.

I got used to the seat position pretty quickly.

I do take the headrests off. I use the midgate quite often, so I never push the headrests all the way down to the locked in position. Makes for easy removal without the need for a hook tool.
My drivers seat will not go all the way back when they’re folded down, close, but not fully back.

Sounds like you need to lookup the rear headrest mod. I did it in my 2003 and 2013. I am 6’6”.

Hi Don - where did you get the plans? The website didn’t work for me. I’d love to get my hands on these
