New Members Say Hello & Post Here First

Hello everyone.
I'm new member to this forum, have followed the threads since few years now as a guest. Currently in Oregon, moved from Canada and of course couldn't separate from my 2012 Avalanche LT, imported and passed all inspections!
This is my second Avalanche after a very bad accident that decommissioned my previous 2004 Avalanche LT.
The reason why I'm joining the club is to learn and have access to members material when something comes up and also share a thing or two I have learned over the years.

Well according to the vin number on the truck, it comes up as a harley davidson edition and the chevy dealer confirmed it. So I'm going with that it's a harley davidson edition avalanche.

Can you post this VIN report?
I mean, this is a first I have ever heard anyone refer to a harley edition and I have been here a long time.
I even googled and what not and cannot find any reference to this edition of avalanche.
I know we had NORTH FACE in first gens.
Southern did some custom versions with fancy body kits.

I am really curious as I thought I have seen them all.

Maybe add some pics to your free media gallery and share.

Hello all. My name is Blondie (not real name) I just joined th club. Finding a lot of real good information on here. I have a 2009 Avalanche, Black. I love it, but am finding the warning lights to be a pain in the butt. Yesterday my traction system service message came on, then the stabilitrak message. Trying to figure it out. I had the service park assist message on forever and a day. I can get these things clear when I discovered next the battery for a little but then it always comes back on. It just seems like it is going through all messages in the system. Lol. Wish me luck in finding out about all this. Thank you to the club

Welcome to the site Blondie! You may get more replies to your problems if you post questions and check older threads in the areas designated such as electrical problems in that section etc.
Welcome also to 05 Black Beauty, unfortunately ygmn is correct in that Harley has never officially teamed up with GM to make a special edition AV.
As a general rule Harley has teamed up in the past with Ford for special edition trucks.
I believe in the past GM has allowed dealerships to make their own special editions such as a Texas edition package or Southern Comfort editions.
But North Face Edition is only factory special I think........

Hey Blondie. You need a scan tool capable of reading the codes to get more information, something that does ABS/SRS specifically. This is one such device: https://www.amazon.com/BlueDriver-Bluetooth-Professional-iPhone-Android/dp/B00652G4TS/

There are many other options too.

Hello,

I just purchased an 05 AV Z71 4x4 today. I was looking at 06 Ridgelines but this vehicle came into my view and I jumped..94k miles and runs smooth..besides the knobby tires ha.

The only thing I need to do is replace factory radio with Apple CarPlay and I’m researching that now.
I can honestly say I am so happy with my purchase..first because it’s such a solid truck, second is that I no longer have to search for a truck..the used truck market is ridiculous in pricing for what you get.

Thanks for having this site with so much useful inf
Welcome!

2005 LT with over 260,000 miles. At 250,000 miles I replaced 5.3 with 6.0 engine. What an improvement. I tow a smaller rPod camper much easier. I also bought a tent that fits over the whole back so the inside of the truck can be used.

I'm now trying to seal that small leak behind the rear window on the right.

Thanks
Welcome!

Hey everyone, I’m back! Not sure how many are still here from when I was here before, but I left when I had to give up my 04 “Cascade Edition” Avy, and now I will be purchasing another Avy here soon... unfortunately it will be a while before I will be driving it as it needs a transmission. I may have one in the works, then it’s just a weekend’s work to be on the road again.

My new truck is a 2004 SS in Orange/Burnt Umber with grey leather interior. I will get pics when it gets towed home.

Good afternoon everyone.

First off, i just wanted to thank everyone for their posts throughout the years. They have been quite helpful references for various details when shopping for and repairing my avalanche.

I've always been rather enamored by these vehicles. My uncle drove around one of the original production concept vehicles for a period of time while GM was testing the general road worthyness of the overall package at the time. I was only about 6 years old at the time but I can remember thinking that It looked awesome. Plus, it's always fun to know someone close to you was part of the engineering team on a particular vehicle.

Fast forward to last year and I had decided to sell my Volt. (great car, it just didn't fit my ~80 mile/ day commute. Less than ideal MPG on gas alone for highway). Carvana gave me $2.5k over blue book high end for it and I wound up purchasing a 2005 Avalanche 2500 for $4.5k (182k miles) out of Ohio knowing that it would need some work. Needed a truck for lumber runs, wanted a full size but didn't want the compromises of size and seating, so here we are.

The frame is solid, and minus the passenger fender and the rocker bottoms being trashed, the body is in what i'd consider great condition considering the milage and salty winters. The driver side seems flawless and the passenger rear has a quarter sized hole near the rear wheel well. I intend to patch it up after it's mechanical problems are sorted. I know these 2500's are relatively rare, and i intend to give this one a good retirement from whatever crazy antics the previous owners were up to. (one of it's shakes was broken, it has a c-clamp welded in place..)

And at the rate i'm going, its going to be a factory new avalanche. But considering the prices i've seen them listed for lately, id rather buy cheap and fix it, than pay a premium to probably have to do it anyway. Much of what i've replaced is an age repair rather than mileage wear. This post is long enough though, ill have to find a better spot to paste the list. xD

:welcome: to the club Raekal. Did your uncle work at the truck plant in flint or the tech center in Warren

Hi Everyone! New member here. I recently purchased a very clean '13. My first Avalanche! I worked on them pre-production so they will always have a special place in my heart. Looking forward to having fun and gaining more knowledge! Cheers! Ps hopefully this post goes in the right spot lol!
