head gasket

My 2005 1500 with around 150000 miles is over heating. I took it to the mechanic and he replaced a couple of hoses and refilled the antifreeze. He said if it continued I would need to replace the head gasket. How much does that usually run? Is it worth it or could it be just a downward...
