I have two dealers in a bidding war for my business. I don't need the 2500 but its just so much more truck for the same price. Then again the NF Edition is sweet too.

The only issue I have is the 2500 does NOT have the HARD Tonneau covers. That dealer is willing to offer them to me at $300 below their cost, but I am still stuck with the soft cover and having to come up with extra cash for the hard tops.

HELP ME DECIDE QUICK BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE BUYS ONE OUT FORM UNDER ME!

I just ordered a 2500. I need it to tow my travel trailer in the summer months and as well, I crave power. I must say that I was not aware that the 2500 came with anything but the hard bed covers. I guess a call to my dealer is in order.

The NF Edition is nice, but in addition to the 8.1, I really wanted heated seats which the NF does not have. Also, I could not justify the premium for the NF (in Cda, it is hefty). If I didn't need/want the 2500, I would have got a "plain" Z71. No offence intended to the NF owners. It is obviously a beautiful vehicle and may carry a little extra cache down the road.

Another thing - while the NF packs which come with the NF Edition are of no use to me (I have had my own technical gear for years now), I do like the white faced analogue gauges. ?However, if you do a search, you'll see that there are some great aftermarket mods available for the 1500 and 2500 in this regard.

To the best of my knowledge, only the 2500 has a transmission temp gauge, which is of benefit when towing. ?You do, however, have to warm up to the idea of having 16 inch rims on the 2500, or pay dearly for larger replacements. The wheels were my biggest hurdle to be overcome.

Obviously, mileage is an issue as well, although both the 1500 and 2500 are pathetic. ?This was not an issue for me.

There are some excellent threads comparing the 1500 and the 2500. You should search for them in the Towing and Hauling Forum as some really helpful info is offered. For example, go to the "Towing 1500 vs 2500" thread currently on page 3 of that Forum. I believe that there are other threads as well.

Best of luck with your decision. Mine was relatively easy (except for the colour - I ended up ordering black).

North Face is sweet....but there are somethings about it that disinterested me in it....the water buffalo and packs are one...couldn't see paying extra for something I wasn't going to use....on the other hand I like the interior...different....

The 2500 has it's advantages as well...more power and torque to kick around.....bullet proof tranny...and heck of a tower....

Tough choice...the jury is out on this one... ;D :B:

The 2500 has a beefier trans and the heavier frame.I have no regrets with my 2500 4x4.

Aegis...hey do you mind if I borrow your tranny for when I supercharge?..... :B:

Sure,,come and get it. Just return it in the same or better condition when you are done with it. My wife just got a 2500 Suburban with the 8.1. The upgraded electronics on the 2003 model year is impressive. Suburban/Avalanche are the same.

Don't know where you're located, but for anyone in the Bedford, IN, area,Hubler Chevrolet has a Red 2500 loaded, on their lot, with leather and only 6,000 mi.

They have it priced at $27,995, but who knows what kind of deal you could work out. I havent seen many Red 2500's. The owner probably got his first gas bill.

Hmm...I don't know it would come back in the same condition....maybe a possible IOU..if anything happens... ;D :B:

2500 4x4 MSRP $37,000

North Face MSRP $40,000

I can buy a lot of duffle bags for $3,000

Resale on the North Face (2002) from kbb.com (Kelly Blue Book) adds about $1,000 for trade in.

You do the math!

I did! You are comparing the base 2500 to a 1500 with just about everything. A similarly equipped 2002 2500 had a bigger sticker price than my NFE.

In shopping for a truck, the base truck seems to be the best value. I'm having a hard time buying into many of the options that they add on. Bucket seats with the 6 player CD adds $1,500 to base price. Each option (including the North Face) adds more profit to GM and the dealer.

Some items are a bargain (locking differential) but many of the cosmetic and entertainment options are overpriced.

In some cases....the same optional items can be bought in an aftermarket setting cheaper than going with the dealer option...just something to think about... :B:

That is true, but aftermarket parts seldom increase the resale value of the used vehicle, compared to the resale value of a "loaded" stock vehicle. Everyone has to decide for themselves what is important and what it is worth.
