This is my first post. I bought a 2007 Avalanche z71 after 3 years of looking and have owned truck for 3 weeks. I bought it for a reasonable price due to the mileage and a pretty significant oil leak. I've drove the truck no more than 10 miles since owning due to tearing the intake, valve covers and valley pan off of it. Was hoping the oil leak was coming from the back of the valley pan but no such luck. So all fresh Felpro gaskets, updated drivers side valve cover, new ACDelco oil sending unit and a DOD delete done to the factory PCM. I also detailed the engine bay and redid all the crumbling wire loom throughout the engine bay.

I hope to have the truck to my local mechanic this week for rear seal and pan replacement. I figured at 46 years old, I'm not doing all that work on my back in the garage. I hope to be able to post pics soon as I'm doing a little bit everyday on this AV.

welcome to the club. looking forward to seeing pic

Got the motor buttoned up and on to this nightmare. Painting the sail panels. :(AV Sail Panels removed.jpg

Wow! Old Skool those look killer. I'm taking the easy way out and just spraying mine with SEM Bumper Coater. I will be keeping the texted look on mine.

Painting my sail panels was the best thing that I've done to my Avalanche. I bought a set from a local junk yard and worked on them at my leisure. With the help of another member here, they came out pretty good.View attachment 231834
101 They look good I had bought a set of ext uppers years ago, but if I put them on I'd lose the sail panel windows and my sports wing.

Nice pix...keep them coming (y)

I had a break in the weather this past weekend and the temp got up into the 60's so I got the panels painted. I used SEM scrub and clean, SEM plastic and leather prep and SEM bumper coater. I was happy with the results. I chose to use aerosol cans to keep from having to mix and spray out of a paint gun. These are pics of before and after but no pics of the install. The trucks dirty and will post as soon as I get her cleaned up.Before Paint 3rd Brake light Panel.jpgBefore Paint Sail Panel.jpgAfter All Sail Panel Parts.jpgAfter Sail panels.jpg

Not as slick as yours are old skool but I'm pleased with how they turned out.

Turned out nice! What bumper color did you use?

Looks unbelievable. Great work!

Thanks SpottyJ.

Charlie I used Flexible Black, product number 39103. I was told that it it's a match for SEM's trim black and I really like the low sheen of it. That low sheen helps hide my shaky hand when I painting. lol
