been gone a while, im back.  Ok, had an 02 AV but my wife totaled it so now I have an 07 lTZ.  It seems the power tailgate lock does not work.  I can open and close it manually but the keyfob or inside door switch wont activate it. I did some testing and found the actuator works and wiring to it works but fuse #44 under the hood has no power.  The fuse is ok, its the fuse dock has no power.  I would like to replace it with keyed model but cant find one.  The internet mechanic said I have a bad printed circuit board relay? sounds expensive.
Can I just add a small toggle to the dash and wire a 12v and ground back to the original wiring at the tailgate ?  What kind of toggle would I need to open and close,
thanks

First welcome back!

The second generation AVs (2007 -2013) all had electric tailgate lock control not keyed.
I don't know what an "internet mechanic" is but you may want to take to a GM dealer and let them troubleshoot the electrical system for you and give you an estimate for the parts if any needed. It could just be something simple like a loose connection somewhere. I would rather fix things right and regain all my functions than to "jury rig" something with a homemade switch on the dash and drilling another hole in dash.
You also might have an issue with tailgate latches under too much pressure and binding thereby not allowing actuator to lock or unlock when tailgate is closed? Will the actuator work when tailgate is open?

Maybe someone who has had this problem will chime in soon for you,
Good luck!

where did you test the wiring? I know fuse 44 says endgate but it is not in the schematic. Check the lock 2(#11) and unlock 2(#10) fuse in the ip fuse block (dash fuse block)

thanks for quick reply... I will check the other dash fuses.  I have backup plan that will work.  Wiring a momentary reverse polarity switch in the left tool box to the tailgate lock..... close proximity and no dash hole.  I can also lock the tool box  with a key.  I wired it up temporarily and it works great.  just waiting for a warmer day in west texas

Eere you ever able to get this fixed if so I have the same problem my remote does not lock or unlock the tailgate

Acw196150 not sure you will get a reply since original poster has NOT been on this site since March 4, 2017 and dpreacher has passed away.
(if you hold your curser over a members name in their avatar you can see the date they were last on this site.)

But maybe someone else will reply and help him?

OMG, this thread is so old, but I came across it looking for something else. For anyone who has this problem in the future. Check the wiring between the tailgate and the bed. A lot of times this wires break from the opening and closing of the tailgate.
