11H's First Dealer Trip For AV... Interesting

Hey all!

Just thought I would share my first experience at the Chevy dealer... 5,000 miles on odometer:::

First off, my truck was on the lot for several months before I bought it (new), and most of the horizontal paneling in the back of the truck was slightly dis-colored due to the AZ sun ...

1) 3 Hard Cargo panels: Warranty $1900 plus! ... Other panels/lids on order...

2) Force balanced all 4 Goodyear AT/S tires ... Results: RR=29 ... LR=24 ... RF=19 ... LF=16 ... (Ordered all 4 new!) Warranty $800

3) Rear mid-gate window had a gap in bottom trim... Replaced... Warranty $1,358!

I knew the cargo panels were insane, but
I can't believe list on the rear window is $1358 !
Wholesale is $1018.95 WOW...

No wonder my advisor was smiling... :) He told me warranty cost was $1200, and I didn't believe him... I looked it up myself... He was right...

Be careful with that rear window folks... It's a doozie!!!

Will be getting the new tires on next week... If they force out the same, service manager said he might consider some Michelins as a replacement. But they don't like jumping brand ... I guess GM doesn't like straying from what they tested the vehicle with from the factory... Brand deviation is a big deal; surprising... Anyways, I'm goin to bed... Laterzzzz

Sounds like you hit the AV lottery. ;)

I have a small crack (1/8 of an inch) in the casing on my rear window right where the alignment arrow is but on the outside. :7:

I filled it with epoxy and so far it has held. I didn?t want to get a replacement glass as the new ones are a lighter tint (15% less rating). But at that price I better get to the dealership and get it replaced under warranty.

There is a TSB out on cracked window trim and the dealer will/should replace no questions asked. I just had mine done and concluded that I should never, EVER EVER drop my rear window!

Thanks Chief.

I showed it to my service advisor last time I was in and he said just to let him know when I wanted it and he?d place it on order. I was considering getting a second glass and putting a flag screen on it and having 2 different glasses to swap back and worth. But after seeing the price on it I won?t be buying a new one!

Is the difference in the shading of the tint noticeable between your old and new glass?

Johnny_D,,,

I wasn't aware of the shading difference... My last one was 20% I believe... Sound right?

I'll check this one, and let you guys know ...

Oh yeah, what do you think of the tire deal?

(LOL... Since a full set has been ordered, and approved, I might just put a few more thousand miles on these ... he he ... I am going on a Xmas trip to CO for a week starting Saturday... That will be at least 1500-2000 miles on this old set ... hehe ... I also talked to my buddy who works powertrain at Lund Cadillac, and he sait the AT/S tires will never force out below 15 pounds ... He had nothing good to say about the Goodyear AT/S ... He said although, the Goodyear HP on the Z66, and Escalades run much more true...)

I'm almost sure the new one is 35%.

Looks like you can get new rubber when ever you want for the new 3 years or 36,000 miles!

What was the old one 20% ??
--------------------------------------

Just went and checked ... New one says

"20% MIN"

Looks like you they replaced your 02 glass with a 02 glass. I know of other members who received the lighter 03 tint. Budman made the deal ship add the extra tint to match his old one. Guess I?m going to get my replaced after the holidays and will let ya know which one comes in.
