According to the DIC on my 2003 Z71 I usually average about 13.8.

If you stay out of stop-n-go traffic you'll do much better. I drive about 15 miles each way on the highway, and another 5 in the city. The city portion destroys my mileage. I was bummed at first, but now I just live with it.

I have about 7000 miles on the ODO after 6 months.

So far have driven from Wichita to KC and From Wichita to Talaquah (sp) Okla. and averaged 13.9 or so. :p So that would be about right as far as I can tell. But then again did'nt buy it for its aerodynamics (none as far as I can tell ;) ) or milage >:D >:D This is just the best truck out there for all its capabilities.... I love my AV...

(ps I'm sure my 285-75 BFG's dont help much ;D )

that's about right. My overall average at about 5K miles is 14.6 mpg and that is probably 2/3 city, 1/3 highway at this point.

I would agree that high 13+ MPG to mid 14's in the city sounds about right. I also do about 2/3rds of my driving in the city and usually average around 14.0.
Good luck with your AV, and enjoy the modding it never ends >:D

Yeah most of my driving is city and I average about 13.5-13.8. On long trips running at around 70mph or so I have gotten as high as 18.9mpg!

Mine is averaging 14.6mpg, after 1280 miles, and my wife is a crazy driving Australian, that commutes 25 miles each way each day, 2/3 of which is stop and go highway (after all, we are in Portland, we don't build roads here anymore unless they are for bikes! LOL)

JBA, K&N, 70 series Flowmaster, twin tails (behind rear tires)

After 16K+ miles, mileage has averaged 14.34mpg on my 2002 5.3L with a high of 16.91 on a 70+mph highway trip and a low of 12.45 with almost all in town driving. Also, the mileage steadily improved as the engine broke in.

I average a little over 16 mpg in my 02 driving about 50 miles per day mixed highway/city.

The 03 does about the same but almost all city. The difference that I note is the 03 has more spunk. Quicker take off and better acceleration.

I just took a 500 mile round trip jaunt into the hills around Redding Ca two weeks ago when it was 110+. Had the A/C cranked and cruise set btwn 70-75. Even going up through the switchbacks I got 13.8. I'm satisfied with that. The only thing I'm disatisfied with is CA gas prices. If the price was lower more people would buy SUV's and they would sell more gas. Am I right??? ??? :E:

I have about 1500 miles on my new AV and I'm getting about 13.7 MPG in town (avg trip length is probably 3-4 miles...ouch). On the highway I am getting about 17 MPG (85 MPH).

On my 02
I get about 16 in the city and the best was 19.2 at 70mph on a long flat trip
mine got better with the more miles I got on it

Sounds bout right. After break in the truck should improve a little. I was getting in the 14's. After break in, and switching to synthetic after 10k miles, I now average low 16's.

I have 23k + on my AV I drive 60 miles a day 90% highway at 55-70 mph. For whatever reasonsince the weather has goten hot, I get 19.1-19-4 mpg. Before that I got 18.1-18.6 mpg. Worst I got was puloing th boat at 55-70 in east texas hills 13.5. Went on 2k+ trip 16-17 because of speed driven..90+mph.

My AV is a Z66 and seems to like 65-70 mph best for gas milage. Can't explain the hot weather...has to be something in the pcm.

IMO 13-14 in a Z71 is too low unless 50%+ stop and go...then nothing is good.
