2 wheel low range

I think that may be the answer when trying to pull a big boat up a wet boat ramp.

I believe when in 4lo the Throttle management is dialed back

No usually a problem on the boat ramp in 4HI, it's usually a straight shot but not always so it would come handy once in awhile.

Have you ever seen a video of truck being dragged into the water with a boat attached. It happened one day at a beach ramp that was wet and had sand on it also. A friend POS could not get up the ramp with the boat attached so I gave it a try, rear wheels started slipping and traction control killed the gas pedal. Finally put it in auto 4WD and it made it up. Thinking back at it I should have put a strap on his truck and pulled them both up.

I probably should get it tuned to remove some of the throttle management because it happens on snow also going up a hill.

I watched it happen to guy with a Jeep that didn't want to wait in line to launch his boat. He thought because he has a Jeep and 4WD he could just back it down the side of the hill next to the ramp and be done. In his hast he forgot to untie the straps at the stern and the trailer floated with the boat lifting his back wheels off the ground and pulling him into the lake.

The whole thing went under pulling bow of the boat under the water a little but the Jeep was totally gone, still hooked the boat..

When I had Nelson do my tune they removed it all. You can do that with the 4L80 because of the strength of the trans, not recommended for the 4L60.

Yeah when I hear ding ding ding and look down at that DIC saying Reduced Engine Power when I'm trying something it turns into a bad moment. LOL

Never heard that before about the 4L60.  Maybe that's why I only got 200K miles out of mine.

200k out any trans is doing good. Some here have been through 4 or 5 transmissions in the same mileage range..

Something tells me he has a slightly modded tranny LOL >:D

3200 Circle Stall, tranny upgraded with 4L65 and other heavy-duty parts,

At 200K miles other than a billet 2nd gear servo the transmission was stock, unless you consider a higher-stall torque converter part of the transmission.  To be honest my truck sees mostly highway miles and very little towing.

After pulling the trans after 200K (due to some slipping indicating frictions were worn), yes, heavy duty parts are in it.  4L65 5-pinion planetaries, Super Shell, wide band, better 3-4 clutches, upgraded output shaft, and a few others.

I don't think a stock 4L60 would like over 600 hp in a 3-ton, 13 second vehicle.  Didn't add the supercharger until after initially pulling the trans, although the original 5.3 did have a healthy cam in it, starting at around 100K miles.

I was surprised your tranny lasted that long, while a lot of them did not.

BTW if no one noticed the kit works on 1500 4X4 also.

Yea, surprised it lasted that long.. Also you probably had tuning from the start which helps by increasing lines pressure (more clamping force on the clutch pack), how hard did drive regularly, pretty easy or did you drive like you stole it and how often did you change the trans fluid?

Yes, did increase line pressure via tuning.  Didn't regularly drive it hard.  Didn't change until changing torque converter at over 100k miles.

That's most likely why your trans had a long life..

BTW a 2wd add 4wd and a big block.

enoniam is my buddy he knows a bunch. But he is going to help me get my SuperCharged AWD EXT into the low 12s >:D

Curious if anyone tried the fuse? I need to pull something up a very steep incline but not very far. Would be nice to use the low range. Also, mine is a 1500 and it looks like the BD diesel makes one for that. I just don’t want to spend 150 bucks when pulling a fuse and then unplugging the battery would work.

For future searchers, I used https://us.bddiesel.com/products/2-...4wd-2001-2013-1500-4wd?variant=30073631670336 and it worked perfectly for my 04 1500 avalanche.

Thanks for the heads-up DCIV
