Looking to take my bonus money and buy chrome 20's for my '03 AV.....what I'm wondering is what size tires to get that won't rub :cautious:
So I figured it would be best to ask the members who already have the 20's on the AV's what they are running without rubbing :0:

TIA (y)

I have 275/55/20 Nitto NT-404 Extreme Force Tires on my Momo Vantages. They are M+S rated and are good in the rain. I choose to get the 55 series because I wanted a bit more meat around my rims, to prevent it form getting scratched or bent. I've hit some potholes and a few curbs and suffered NO damage at all. As for rubbing , I haven't rubbed even once with this set up. (Rim size : 20" x 9"). But now I'm gonna do some research on some 22" inch rims & tires, for my next upgrade. ;D

TNAV03, I'm running the GoodYear Eagle LS 275/55-20's on my BOSS 307s. No problems with rubbing anywhere that I've seen so far. :)

Thanks AVonDubz/Vetman it looks like the 275/55/20's are the way to go then..How long have you guys been running the 20's for?

I've been running on these rims and tires for about 8 month with no problems. But now looking to move up to 22's. Anyone interested in buying my Momo Chrome Vantages ?!? (hehehehe) ;D

Well as my new 20?s are scheduled to be in today I can let you know what info I found out on 20 inch tires. There?s not a lot of 20 inch tires to choice from that will fit your AV without rubbing. ?Here are a few I looked at:

The factory GY HP tires are 265/70?s with a 31.6 dimension and are 10.7 inches wide.

The Falken 295-50-20 is the exact same dimension and I think are about 11.8 inches wide. ?They will fit without rudding and your speedo will be correct. ? They are the only 295/50/20s I found on the market. ?They are also very expensive as they?re over $1000 for a set. ? :p About 1,200 mounted, balanced, stem and road hazard insured. They're a serious street tire and come with a 50,000 mileage warranty so that may help you jusitfy the price. But for me they were over kill for a truck IMO.

The Goodyear LS 275/55/20 is 31.8 dimension and is 11.1 wide. ?This is a good quit street tire and has a low cost ?around $600 a set. ?I almost went with this but I wanted something with a wider footprint. ?Also as it a little larger dimension tire it would drop the rear end ratio a little lower. ?I?m not too trilled with the 3:73 rear end and it may only be a few points but that was something I had to consider. ?If they had this tire in a 50 series I would have gone with it.

The Goodyear GT II 285/50/20 is the tire I finally went with, it is in between the tires above.. ?The dimension is 31.2 and is 11.6 inches wide. ?It has more of a square shoulder and a sportier look than the LS but not up to the Falken. ? ?It has the smallest sidewall at 5.5 inches so ride may be harder but it should handle a little better. ?The GTII also has a higher ware rating than the LS. ?

Hope that helps a little.

Thanks for the information!! I spent close to 3 hours on the phone today, with 1010Tires, TireRack, and DirectTire and got even more confused when I was done.
Bottom line I was told that I could run a 305-50-20 nitto, by Direct Tire, I was told by TireRack that the 275-50-20 was the best size, and 1010Tire said I could go to a 295-50-20.
All said that none of the above would cause any rubbing or require any modifications, and that the secret was to make sure that the offset was correct ???
So needless to say I'am even more confused then when I started .....so I value the Members opinions that are running 20's!!
Thanks

The off set is where the centerline of the rim is in respect to where the current centerline is on the stock set up?I think I worded that badly. ? :2:

Look at it this way, a negative off set will push the wheel out and if it sticks out to much you may have problem with local laws when you get an inspection. ?Plus it might look funny. ?A positive off set moves the centerline inward thus keeping the wheels from sticking out too far, even a wider tire. ?Go too far in and you may have rubbing even with a tire that should fit. ?My new rims have a +18 offset, I'd love to tell you they fit great but I just found out they were shipped a day late and won?t arrive until tomorrow. ?:7:

I?m sure someone can explain this better than I just did! ?

TNAV03, I've only had mine on for a couple of months but everything looks OK so far.
Love the ride, I actually think it's better than with the stock wheels/tires.

Hi,
I am running (during Spring, Summer, Fall ;)) Yokohama 295/45/20. BUT if I had it to do over I would run the 295/50/20 Falkens. There's even an all season version. When I wear out the Yoko's I'll be buying the Falkens.
My .02, Canadian

20's here also...see my pics...email me and ill give you a great site for alot less than they want at the dealers..

Holy Cr@p!!!

Ice, that is one of the best looking AVs with or without BH I've ever seen. The yellow looks awesome in all its nakedness. Great choice of wheels and tires also. Please post more pics.

:B: AWESOME TRUCK :B:

Hey Johnny D, Hope to see ya at the Battleship on Sunday.
Will be at the rodeo on Saturday and staying over in Katy, Sunday the Son and i will be up Looking for you all to make the cruise.
I went with the Good year eagle LS, trying to get the best ride since it has a little more sidewall. I think it is 1/10th of an inch larger than stock, but programmer takes care of that. Going with the shorter tire will help off the line, but more revs going down the highway, probably not even noticable on the gauge.
275/55/20's, I think as time goes by we will see more available to us in the 20s. The larger tires (width) i mean did get rid of some of that side to side play i had on the highway.
JohnnyD, see if you can get rid of all that rain for us on Sunday. Weather says will be good in Lafayette on Sunday, hopefully the same down there.....
as you can see i attached a picture, trying to get one to put on my sig...........brainless when it comes to that.

ice, great looking truck! so what is the deal with the cladding and rear bumper? were both these options on the 03. i think the cladding was, but the bumper as well?

I dont like the old cladding on the 02's that goes all the way around the bottom of the truck. This one is all stock the bumpers are chrome w/black tred on the step area and the fender wells had the black molding around them as well as the trim down the sides. I have added: Vent shades, bug deflector, MSD 8.5 MM wires, AR Wheels and a K&N Air filter

Those are the same Nitto tires in a 305/50/20 that I was looking at getting!!
No rubbing or modifications with the 305's? How long have you had them on for?
Appreciate the feedback..as I'm now looking at either 295's or the 305's (y)

FYI......with the WBH model you get the Silverado front end and rear bumper. The only cladding is on the tailgate 'cause they use the same one for both models. :cautious:

You should have a great time Saturday. ;D Besides seeing the Rockin? Roadhouse Tour with Joe Diffie, Mark Chesnutt and Tracy Lawrence in concert you get to see the rodeo championships that day. The last day of the rodeo, Sunday, is not a rodeo but just a concert. All the other competitions that have been held for the last 18 shows have been elimination rounds; you will see the best of the best cowboys. So be sure to get in side at 4PM. Go early or stay late to see the fair out side, livestock and all the shops. I picked up a new Stetson at one on the shops before the Toby Keith concert.

Also check out the Hideout (it?s a big tent in the fair ground) to see who will be playing. We came out of the Brooks & Dunn concert Wednesday night and went to the hide out and Emerson Drive was playing! Sweet.

Have fun and I?ll ZEEYA Sunday!
