I just looked at the fanclub.wd40.com website. They have listed a lot of uses for wd-40 on auto's. A couple of them I wonder about. Such as using it to shine your dash and tires? Has anyone heard of this before? Any ill effects after long term use?

WD-40 has bad silicones which in the long run damage rubber and vinyl.

It also allows dirt and dust to stick.

It smells bad.

It does not provide protection against UV rays.

There are other cheaper products out there designed for dashboards etc which work much better.

HTH

PS WD40 = Water Displacment (formula #) 40....that is where the name came from.

You mention it allows dirt to stick.Well,we use wd-40 on our quads after cleaning them up.We spray the undersides of the fenders with it because it allows the dirt and mud to clean off easier. We have tried many products for this purpose, but wd-40 attracts less dust than say, tire wet or armor all. Plus it is alot cheaper too. :B:

on the dashboard inside...it allows dirt to sit on the dash in lieu of being blown or dusted off...

My son races go karts, and we use WD-40 on his tires to soften them up... so I'd avoid using it on any plastic or rubber surfaces!

Bigfoot,

WD-40 and Duct tape; the yin and yang of the Engineering world (and NASCAR?).

"WD-40 removes unsightly "burned rubber" from the fenders of your car, and it won?t harm the paint. --- Dan Ruggiero NJ" NJAV???

Check out the Duct tape guys web site for info on WD-40.

use # 2001 - pain relief
I know this old guy, he's at least 75, and he rubs WD-40 into his joints when they hurt. He swears that the pains goes ways. I kid you not!!

Me thinks this WD-40 is better for human body parts, rather than Avalanche parts!! I played baseball with a fella from Arkansas who swore it eased the pain in his elbow when he pitched. :3:

heh heh. In the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", the father sprays Windex on everything. It's his cure all!
