:E: I went to start the Avalanche It thinks it's out of gas, the park\drive indicator won't show what gear it's in, the gas gage reads E, the fuel pump's working. The security light won't go off. The warning light states low fuel, (fuel is full). It said 4WD? trouble but it no longer shows that. The battery is new all fuses are good. I don't know about the relays. The On-Star is acting strange. I don't subscibe to On-Star, But the lights stay on even when the key is out of the truck, sometimes and the speakers are making noise. I have had past trouble with the CD player. Everything was good when I got home from work when I went to go out it started this. Can some one give me some info? Anything? I'm going thru Avalanche withdraw.

:( I took it to a dealer they were positive it was the anti-theft in the key switch. They replaced it and now it will not communicate with any of their dianostics and they have no idea how to get it to communicate. I had 2 front tires put on? is there wiring or sensors that  could be shorted in the front wheels?    Any ideas?

Thanks
Diane

It could be a bad ignition switch. They go bad all the time and cause quite a few different symptoms. Welcome to the club as well :welcome:

As he mentioned..

Fault(s) vary, depending on which contact set(s) in the switch are becoming resistive. IF that's the case.

Reference THIS, to help isolate an ign switch fault.

Second, you may have separate issues. Sulphur deposits on the fuel level sensor. (use fuel injector cleaner like Techron???) and the other electrical issues could be a bad ground connection somewhere. Several circuits can share the same ground connection and weird things go on if that ground connection opens up, is intermittent or becomes resistive.

HTH! :)

The dealer called and said my PCM has water in it and the wires are crudded up. He thought I needed to know corrosion on wiring is white/green (Duh). I truly hope this will solve the problem. I'm not sure how water got in there. Thinking back it may have been that deep spot in the creek I didn't see.

Hope thats what is was..  hummm  deep creek  I have seen those before
