2002 brake advice

We have a 2002 ...1500 with 108,000 on it and have decided to pull a small ( 5,000# +- ) travel trailer, so I want to check and observe everything before I do. I want to replace the rotors and pads due to the originals having a slight shimmy with braking. It's had pads and the original rotors have been turned.
I am thinking of drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads. Anyone have advice as to pro or con?
Also I am unsure how to determine which drive axle I have and there are apparently two choices for rear rotors depending on which axle is in the truck. The lugs are 6 bolt. It has tow/haul package accessories. I bought the truck ( at 102,000) from a friend who bought it new in 2001 and he has been meticulous in maintaining it. ???
 
If you have 17" or larger rims you could install the second generation brakes and improve your braking.
