2002 Full Time DRLs - Instructions for UnderHood Mod

WILDFIRE said:
right on, i don't see the headrest mod on your list yet? ?

Did that one after the All 4 on High mod that was #3 for the night. Although I did run into a problem after I did everything. The issue I am having is somehow I managed to kill my battery. Most likely due to my own fault. But I did play with the elect. system tonight so i began to question some of the mods I did. Has any one else had the battery die after you did the FTDRL (in the Powerbox under the hood), All-4-on-High where you ground out the yellow wire on the lowbeam with a jumper wire? Those are the only 2 elect. mods I did tonight. I don't know if its dieing now that I grounded the lowbeam. Is that possable?

cb, shouldnt hurt battery at all, only uses power when you have the lights on...

unless you stood gazing in joy after completion... but the mod itself isn't doingit
maybe you grounded another wire on accident, maybe got a short????

i grounded mine inside the box itself, bad angle but i got a pic for ya, real clean look, cant see at all , even when fuses are exposed, used like 8in of wire or so

gl with tha battery

still waiting on that pix of the hids V. are you putting in just the bulbs or the kit with the extra power pack?

I am still waiting on my HIDs to come in... the 9006 and 9005 are available but the 880s are backordered.  I am trying to see if I can cancel my order and just get the kits elsewhere.

The kits come with ballast and bulb, but it is plug and play.  Just plug the OEM socket into the ballast and pop the bulbs in.

GRREEEEEAAATTTT write up V. . . . . just a question though. . . . is there a way that i can do all this but have a seperate on/off toggle or button so that if I wanted I could turn the drl's off at some point. . . . . ? like maybe when I just wanted the low beam/fog setup going. . . .

great how to though!

thanks, ryan

You would have to remove the DIODE wire (or wires depending which set up you chose) from the DRL relay terminal, install a wire on that terminal to your switch, then from the switch back to the DIODE wire you pulled off the DRL terminal.
When the switch is in the OFF position the DRL would operate normally. When the switch is in the ON position it would enable FTDRL.? (y)

So do I need to run wire from the box under the hood, through the firewall, and mount a switch somewhere on the kick panel area?

thanks. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . :help:

You need to run two wires from the fuse/relay box under the hood to the location where you plan to mount the switch. Then wire it as stated in the previous post.

Great . . . . I just got the all on high/amber ftdrl's done tonight. . . . ! when I get some motivation I need to do this now. . . . . Thanks for the help Moose (y)

:help: I've installed the diode for all 4 on hi - hoping I would be able to control my fogs.

I do have hi and lo beams when I engage the hi beams - but if I turn on the fogs and then engage the hi beams I get only lo and hi - no fogs.

I want to be able to have fogs on with hi and lo beams - but I don't want them to come on every time I hit my hi beams.  Is this possible?

I have a question.

After you do the FTDRL do you still have the perimeter lighting function from your DRL's when you use your remote to unlock your doors?

I've seen that work in every state so far except Michigan. :dunno:

:kidding: Yes they will still work? (y)
