2002 Full Time DRLs - Instructions for UnderHood Mod

Looks awesome!  I love seeing that people are still using this walkthrough...

So has anyone figured out how to keep the fogs from going off when the high beams are turned on?  Without forcing them to come on - giving the fog swich full control.

Well I also decided to do the Amber DRL , FTDRL, and the All 4 on Hi yesterday while it was raining down here. Vertabatt the instruction were easy to follow thank for the great info. Next on my list is the LOF, which one come with a good warranty.

Still no luck, eh?  Might be time to start splicing wires!  >:D

Nice! Glad you got it done!  For a LOF I went with the Altec. It worked well and seems to be one of the more popular brands around here. Not sure about warranty info though...

I'm having some issues with my drls... I noticed yesterday at a light that my drls were not on, then later in the trip they were back on.  After stopping and getting back in the truck they were off again, and then once again they turned on after driving for a while.  I have been paying attention now and it seems like they are only on about 50% of the time.  What connection should I be checking to see what could be loose?  I was thinking a loose bulb or housing, but I didn't think that would affect both lights?  :help:

Nevermind, I think I found the problem... got under the fuse box and the drl wire I moved was a little loose... drls seem to be working full time like normal now  :E:

glad it was something simple!

Putco has a lifetime warranty for as long as you own the vehicle.  I got it from JP Customs.  Now I gotta wire it up. :)

I've made a PDF version of vertabatt's instructions and tried to get all the pics where they need to be.  I incorporated some of the tips/hints that people provided and included the 5th diode setup.

I sent it to him to review and make any suggestions for updates, so once he's done with it, I'll try to find a place to host/post it to make it easily available.  It should make taking these instructions to your rig easier for those of us doing this mod now. :)

Yeah, I know I'm slow! :)

FINALLY got this mod done - all 4 on hi is now functional and as easy as stated in this thread.  It took me longer to turn the instructions into a PDF than it did to heat shrink wrap the diodes and install em.

One thing I did a bit different is that I color coded the diodes.  The FTDRL are done in red heat shrink up to either end of the diode.  The other mods are in white.  I also covered the diode itself with the next larger size heat shrink tubing and used clear.  This lets me see which way was the right way to install, yet kept everything visible AND protected.

I have the PDF available if anybody wants it.  Just send me a PM and I'll get it sent out.  It is too big to put on here as an attachment...

I uploaded the PDF to the CAFCNA "lighting mods" album... it can be found here:

Thanks for a simple and elegant mod !

Any body notice a lot of people flash their lights when the lows and fogs run together?

Odd as it may seem, I seem to get flashed when only my lows are on more than when my lows and fogs are on at the same time.

I have all of them on, DRL, low beam, ambers & fog. Have it had setup for about 5 months. Never once have I been high beamed.
