2002 Full Time DRLs - Instructions for UnderHood Mod

it helps to turn the key on to test the fog light switch...

the headlight switch will work without the key in, so I was doing the same thing for the frogger switch.

all is right in the world.  (y)

Another "picnic" error....  Problem in Chair, Not In Car ....   :laugh:

I am new to this club, but I love it.  Did this mod to my 04 and it was simple.  everything worked fine and it looks awesome (y)
 
I finished this mod today. Wonderful write up, great pictures. Could just about go off the pictures alone... Looks really good...                  But now that i'm done, I gotta question. I did the 4 diodes, not the 5th because I still selectively use my fogs on low.  I notice when the headlights are on the DRL's and parking lamps are on( I have ambers in both) as they should be with this mod, however, if I manually put my light switch in the middle postion to run the parking lights only the DRL's turn off. Is there a way to wire it up to when I manually turn my parking lights on the DRL's stay on as well(no highs/lows/fogs) Just 4 amber bulbs across?  Thanks, and I hope what I was trying to ask/explain made sense...
 
I changed over to silverstar's and did the amber drl's last weekend.  So I decided to do this modification yesterday, and I have to say that it is awesome. Thanks a million for this tutorial, would have never attempted on my own! (y)

Yep, that is the one time the DRLs are not on. You can jump it with another diode, but the relays are not close in proximity. So, if you do throw in another diode you will need to lengthen it with some additional wire and heat shrink it.
 
This mod will have the headlights on all the time, I know that but will they work with my ambers still? Is this the all 4 on high mod for the '02?
 
Excellent instructions. Was a real easy install...THANKS!  I installed only 2 diodes. 4 High beams and Foglights.
I also installed amber DLS.

Excellent thread!  The instructions and pics were perfect.  I knocked this out in 15 minutes, and I'm horrible at auto maintenance.  This club is awesome because of info like this.  Thanks a ton, everyone!!!!

Thanks 02 Z71!  I'll keep my eyes on the boards for a meeting in VA.  Haven't been to one before and I'm looking forward to it.  Love the pics of the ones you have attended.  Looks like a great time.  Happy Cruisin'!

You'd have to check your local state laws.... but then again, it's only illegal if you get caught!    :laugh:



 
I failed inspection in NJ because my fog lights came on when the high-beams did.

I had to mod the mod, and install a "power switch" to kill the All-4's before I go to inspection....

Simple mod - just take the connection where the 3 diodes go to the same relay connection, and extend a wire from there to one end of a switch, then the other end of the switch to the relay connection where you pulled the 3 diodes from, and leave the switch in the "on" position to have All-4's and turn it off when going to inspection....
