[img][img]Hi All,

This is my first post, but I have been reading the boards for a while now.  I have exhausted my search on this board and the internet, so it's time for the experts...

I decided to remove the aftermarket radio installed by the previous owner and go back to stick.  I have the stock radio but need to wire back in the GM connector to adapt back to the OEM radio.  Seems simple enough right?  Well, I researched on this board the various posts regarding wire color and destination.  The problem I have is I do not see what I am expecting...first, from a color standpoint, I do not have a yellow or light blue wires.  Second, I am not getting any constant feed from my orange wires.  I am posting a pic (can't seem to do from Apple devices...advice?) of the wires I have and found I am getting power from one green, brown, and black wire when the truck is started or in the ON position.  Note: the aftermarket worked fine, just looked like crap. The wiring in the dash looks completely nudes turned with the exception of the aftermarket harness that was installed.  Going further back all wires are very neat and encased in the factory foam tape.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  As a side note, I seemed to have knocked out the odometer, speedometer, tach, and message center.  I checked Ignition 0 fuse (10a) and it was fine...thoughts?  Thanks!

There should be 2 harnesses spliced together that hook back to the stock one ... It should be a plug that goes into the back of the stock stereo... I don't think 02 needed the chime harness so don't worry there but I think the fuse you are looking for is under the hood and is a 15 a fuse  (y)

Cheers for the response and 15a under the hood, I will check that out tonight. As far as the radio wiring, I have one bundle of wires available coming from the dash, they are all clean and intact, but the colors available are not what I would expect. I.e no light blue rear speaker and no yellow at all. So I am assuming there is another wiring diagram alternative to the common ones seen in the boards and the internet in general.

Correct.  Does not match the 2002 diagram at the link. I have dark blue, but no dark blue with light blue stripe and I have brown, but no brown with yellow.  Does anyone know how to post a picture from and iPad?  I have a picture to post but when I hit the image icon, it just inserts IMG tags....?  Thanks for the help!!!

Wyotonka...thanks for the heads up on the 15a fuse...the Radio fuse in the electric box under the hood was a 10a for some reason and it was blow.  I probably blew it testing the 12v continuity of the orange radio wire.  Weird that it somehow affected several dash instruments from working.  Confirmed it was supposed to be 15a and replaced with a new fuse and I was back in the game.  Thanks again, I owe you one!

Yea it tripped it once... It was confusing for me too the IMO tags it gives you are for a link off a website I use photobucket it's easier  (y)

Thanks for the Photobucket referral.  Here are the wires I have coming from the dash..

Swaymix,

Try looking a little farther up the wiring into the dash. All of the speaker wires should separate and go to the passager side to the factory amp which may have been bypassed for the aftermarket radio and the power, ground, speed, BCM wires should come from another harness. There are multiple jacks on the factory radio. Here's a pic of the radio and jack, might help you figuring out which wire goes where..

Good luck

Randy

Oh.. And you can post pics, you just need a few more post to enable you to do so..

Perfect Need4Speed, that should help..

Also if the factory amp is bypassed, leave it bypassed...

Also ONstar or No Onstar?

That's right, I forgot about COnStar...

Thanks guys!  No onstar no amp. I cut off the aftermarket harness and the wires I have left go deep into the dash and down. I have not gotten to the point of having to remove glove box and kick panels but will if you think it's worth it. I would have thought that the factory wires would have been exactly what was wired into the aftermarket harness.

YOU have an amp behind glove box... all 2002 had them...

You might have to remove the dash and glove box to trace all the wires.. Like ygmm said all 2002's had the factory amp and it might have also had COnStar. So that's why there are so many wires, speaker and power on go to the amp, a vehicle speed impute to the radio for the volume control. Theres also a mute and impute for OnStar to interface, if the previous owner removed the OnStar and factory amp it might be a little tougher to trace it all out..

Thanks to you all, I found the nest!  The previous owner did a cob job on the wires as they exit the amp. I can easily trace the wire colors they used and wire in the new harness that way, but would really like to have a new harness complete from the amp to the radio. Does anyone know where I could get one or even a part #?  Cheers!

Your best chance would probably be the junkyard..

Just wanted to close the loop with everyone....I did go and buy the radio harnss from a local scrap yard and they gave me the entire electronic harness that goes through the dash...holy crap there's a lot of offshoots.  I compared what is in my dash vs. the harness from the scrap yard and they were the same...except the radio section from the amp to the radio....the previous owner really screwed things up.  Rather than taking my entire dash apart and rewiring the whole thing, I decided to just isolate the contant, acc power and grounds...done.  Then I just started trial and error on speaker connections.  Got the front right, then back left, then driver frot, then inally back right!  Antenna is in and all is working!

One final queestion....the aftermarket radio that was installled was a single DIN Kenwood that used an aftermarket install case to fit into the dash...obviously I removed all of that, but now I do not have anyplace to screw in my factory radio...it's almost as if I am missing an install case or peice to screw into.  Thoughts, ideas?

THe factory radio slid into a metal thingy.... and snapped in sorta..

Go back to Junkyard!

That's what I figured. I called the junk yard, they don't have one. Can I buy one on eBay or elsewhere on the net?  What is it called that I'm looking for so I can search...or even a part number would be sweet!  Thanks for the help guys!
