Anyone out there with a 2003 or ordering a 2003, is there supposed to be adjustable lumbar support in the bench seats?

I know the 2002s had it, but my 2003 does NOT have it.
:8:

Wondering if any of you 2003 owners with bench seats have an adjustable lumbar?

I would appreciate it if you do have it, to let me know!

Thanks!

This is from the 2003 Info in the AV Future and Vision Forum:

(A95) seats no longer contain manual lumbar controls

Something else I noticed on the '03s. It appears as though now if you have a power bench seat it's only power on the drivers side. That sucks. That was one of the nice things on the GMs. With Ford you have to go all the way to the top of the line model to get both seats power. ???

goo,
The A95 is the high back bucket seat option, not the bench seat that he was referring to.
The headrests in the 03 are no longer adjustable, front to back, either

That is the only information that was in the release info I received. I just verified with my contact that the '03 benches DO NOT have lumbar also.

The '02's don't have power on the passenger side of the bench either.

Huh, last I knew the pickups did. Wonder if that changed before '03???

Now why in the heck would they delete that, perhaps to encourage the HUGE upgrade cost to go to the leather buckets? This stinks for those considering bench seat for whatever reason (cost, extra seating) as I am since most of us have become accustomed to some sort of lumbar adjustment.

Super, I knew this was your thread! ;)

I have found that by raising and lowering the drivers power benchseat, you can adjust the relative position of the lumbar support in you back.

Also, I thought the '03's were going to eliminate the extra visor. Mine still has two on each side.

Now why would Chevy re-tool to eliminate such lesser but still very nice features? There can't be that many $$$ to be saved!

Just one more reason to like my 2002! I love the bench for seating capacity and like the lumbar adjustment too!

Chevrolet didn't have to retool. They probably just changed supplyers. I know Lear builds the seats here in Lordstown, for the Chevys and Pontiacs.

There are several changes to the AV seats on the 03, not just on the bench seat. The leather seats are more plain and seem stiffer than the 02. Chevy probably calls that more firm. Than of course they eliminated the articulating headrests and the bowties.

Personally I don't like the way the seats adjust on this latest design. Used to be the whole seat (bottom and back) went up and down. Now just the bottom does. So you get everything all adjusted but want to go just a little higher, and everything changes. I guess it's good for tweaking the lumbar position though. :cautious:

I guess I'm spoiled. After driving a 95 S-10 and a 98 Pontiac Transport Montana I LOVE the buckets in my Avalanche. A lot more supportive than either of those vehicles. The driver seat in my Pontiac Transport was terrible - nowhere near enough thigh support and very soft padding.
