Smokin' Asphalt (41U) (black)
Redline Red (70U)
Yellow (43U) available at extra cost

Sorry I had a total brain fart the base price is $41,370.00
+Destination Charge $625.00
so a total base price of $41,995.00

The extra cost paint is for the yellow
it is the same yellow as the AV but the charge more don't ask me what GM is thinking???

Yet another vehicle that Chevrolet is entirely too proud of. It is very nice though.

It's too bad they aren't offering it in the blue that I've seen in the mags.

I have a 1/32 SSR die-cast Collectors Edition in yellow. I have to STOP STARING at it or I'm going to get into SERIOUS TROUBLE!

This is the only thing I would consider buying in ADDITION to my AV - only problem is getting the wife to say I can have both :cautious:

Personally I am very disappointed in Chevy for making a sprot truck with only 290HP. You would think that they would go after the Lightning and put in a modified 5.7 or 8.1 pushin around 400HP.

For a 42K truck I would have expected more from Chevy :6:

I for one am very disappointed :6:

I knew it was not going to be the 6.0, but I thought it was supposed to have the Corvette or Camaro engine.

How many of these will they sell? I don't think very many, but maybe that was the intent. For me, way too overpriced and non-functional as a pick up. Plus it's only a two-seater, right?

Depending on weight, 290 hp could be a formidable figure. The 5.3L Vortec in the SSR is an all-aluminum affair. There is still hope that this thing will be able to get out of it's own way. ;D

True, But it is still going to take some signifciant after market mods to make the SSR any type of a competitor.

Since I saw the one in person at the Portland Auto Show, I can't figure out what GM is thinking with this one. It looks to compete with the Plymouth Prowler more than any "sport truck". I know nothing of the Ford Lightning (except that it still looks like a truck, right?), but of all the "crossover" vehicles, this is the worst.

Okay, now that I have badgered its asthetics, what is with the hp output and the price? More than an Av and can do less than half as much? I guess I just don't understand the "sport truck" classification. I mean, there are sport cars that only go fast and seat two people, and can't haul crap, so I know functionality isn't always a requirement. But in a truck? What's the point? Is there a strong lineage of these things that I've missed? I guess I just don't get it.

I can't believe the price for what you get. byron said it right--another product GM is too proud of.

(my highly-opinionated uneducated two cents, of course)

I haven't been able to find an advertised wet weight for the SSR anywhere. I ran 290hp combined with a SWAG (scientific wild ass guess) vehicle weight of 3750lbs through an E.T. calculator and came up with a very respectable 13.67 ET. I am not ready to dismiss the SSR's performance as of yet.

Too many $ for this little boy. That's more than I paid for my Escalade EXT. You can get another Chev two seater for the same price - Corvette.

Come on guys they are targeting a specific buyer with this one - I like it and you can bet others will also. The main reason there are so many different types of makes and models is because there are so many kinds of people with different taste! ;) :D ;D

Tex, you have no taste... shi7 you talk to me, that proves it >:D

Have you been talkin to Edward K or my wife or heck any of the Texas members or anyone else that knows me around here? :cautious: :-[ :p  :-X

I still like the SSR and think they will sell ;) :D If not and the price drops I might just get one!

How do I keep gettin' brought up ? :cautious: ;) I agree with one point, the SSR should be competition for the Lightning and at 290 HP it won't be :6:
