What color are they?

They weren't on the truck my dealer traded for with another dealer but they were included in my deal. Now he's saying Chevrolet is saying they aren't available to sell for an unknown time period.

I hope this isn't the beginning of a run-around!

The 03s are dark grey like the color of the cladding on the body.

The 02s are a medium gray like the 02 cladding.

My Av was traded for also and they were not on it. The dealer I went thru ended up having to order them from GM, came in in about 6 days. I have now had them on for 7 days and have to say they are great. Saves my leather from all that sliding in and out. Came to 565 I believe, same price as the 02 steps but they DO match the cladding exactly. I paid one hr labor to the dealer to install but if you can save any amount on them installing, I would as all holes are pre drilled and they are super easy to put on, I would do it my self if I have the opportunity to in the future. Parts said GM sent out a special buliten on the part number. I can get the part number if you need.
Mike

Can you get the part number and name of the dealer you were able to order the boards from? Mine here in Delaware says they aren't available. Yet.

Chris

can you post the part number, My dealer thought they were ordering the 2003 and what came in was for the 2002 lighter gray than the 2002.

hey, I am taking my 2002 factory running boards off my AV, am replacing them with the Waag side tubes. You can buy mine from me if you want, or make your dealer get them from me if Chevy can't provide. My steps are in perfect condition, will be coming off in about 2 or 3 weeks. I am in NJ if you are close by

jmg3 ... Be sure and POST this in the Parts for Sale forum.

Part #12490778 2003.
This should do it for ya.

Took about 3-4 days to get in I think, DO NOT pay to have them installed. Dealer did a great job but all the holes are there predrilled and they are a super easy bolt on. If I knew it was this easy I would have saved an hr of labor and done my self.

According GMPartsDirect. the number for the '03 steps is 12498298.

I called Dal and gave him Part #12490778. It wasn't in his "book". He called GM and they also said they had no listing for that number. I'll have to try this new number later today!!

Chris

I Need these STEPS!!

Ok I took the part number 12490778 to my dealer today, looked it up and even called and said it was a dead number didn't bring up anything. So I told him again what I was wanting, board for a 2003 to match the darker grey cladding. His first comment was they must not make them, to which I said but if they come on new Av's then why can't I order them. The :0: came on and he instead looked them up by the code for factory equipment. Turns out there are 2 part numbers, one for the left and one for the right. They are sold separate according to him.

Part numbers he gave me are 12490924 and 12490925. As much as I appreciated his help he wanted $575 for the pair. Price from DeLillo was $438 plus about $40 shipping, and gmpartsdirect is $220.50 each or 529.20 for the pair, but they want $44.10 each to ship.

I'm going to reconfirm with DeLillo about the two number and will update you on what I find.

hmmm, something is not right ?- sure a seperate part # exists for each step so they can order one or the other if damged, but Dal is quoting the step package price, while GMPD is bouncing back exactly what you ask, two, seperate steps.

Per the 2003 Avalanche accessories brochure, the pn# for the assist steps PACKAGE is 12498298, that comes back on GMPD with a $395 plus their S&H, add it to your cart on that site to figure out what that adds to the total (it is often significant).

I also think this topic would be more appropriate under accessories and mods, although I recognize why it started here.
