2003 first oil change..

Howdy..

New to the club...

getting ready to change the oil in the ol' Avalanche..Just wanted to check a couple things before I did..

1. Is there a preferred oil filter?
2. Type and Weight of Oil (in sw Florida)

I have done plenty of oil changes on my 00 jeep and my 78 VW, but just want to make sure before I hit my $$ vehicle..

I think most everyone runs 5w30.  Everyone seems to have their own preference as to oil and filter.  I use Mobile 1 oil and oil filters.

Yea, 6 quarts is fine but it will only fill it to about 3/4 of the way between the "add" and "full" line on the dipstick.
