2003 Pic And New Info From GM!

any pics of the black or dark gray? ???

I tried to get a password for GMs site and got rejected because I'm not a member of the media.

Attention Z66 Owners!!!

We are now the proud owners of a Collectors Edition.

"Z66 Premium On-Road Suspension no longer contains Z66 decals on the side of the truck"

I will be posting the other deletions in a couple of minutes ;D

The '03's have some nice improvements, but I won't be trading in my '02 1500 until Chevy decides to drop in a 6.0L and round up the wheel wells ala EXT.

Timcosco, that's exactly what I am thinking. '03s are sweet, but until the General decides to offer the H.O. 6.0L in the 1500, I'm keeping the '02.

Actually, GM is not yet building 2003 Avalanches. The '03 Avalanches will not begin rolling off the line until the week of July 29. The '03 pickups that are out were built the last week of July.

Wow, what a great start to the day. I find out my Av is a collectors item and I become a "regular" on the board. Does life get any better than this? :B:

LoClass, Actually on the computer at the dealership I work at they are building Avalanche's they will not arrive at the dealer in oregon tell Aug. sometime but they have orders being build starting next week.

Avalance, not to argue with you, but I would know a bit more than your dealer computer, considering my employer ;D Trust me when I say the Silao, Mexico assembly plant does not start regular production of the '03 Avalanche until the week of July 29. You can order an '03, but build does not start for 2 more weeks. Here's the timing for the '03 changeover, plant by plant:

Week of:

June 24: Fort Wayne, IN & Pontiac, MI (pickup)
July 15: Flint, MI and Oshawa, ON (pickup)
July 22: Arlington, TX (SUV)
July 29: Silao, MX (SUV & 805/806)
August 5: Janesville, WI (SUV)

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but got this from a close friend at GM....it is GMC Envoys' response to the AV with all the next generation stuff.

GMC Introduces Another Industry-First Product - The Revolutionary Envoy XUV

DETROIT - General Motors' GMC division has dramatically raised the bar of sport utility functionality with the introduction of the revolutionary 2004 GMC Envoy XUV.

Envoy XUV, an exclusive GMC product, is the most adaptable SUV ever offered with unprecedented levels of versatility, functional innovation and state-of-the-art technology. Envoy XUV sets a new benchmark in sport utility capability with a host of industry-first features including:

* Power-sliding rear roof: With a touch of a button, Envoy XUV easily converts the cargo area from fully enclosed to open-air. This never-before-offered transformation allows Envoy XUV to transport large, tall items ranging from armoires and refrigerators to small trees and bikes. The advantages of an open air cargo space give the Envoy XUV unrivaled versatility.
* Next generation Midgatetm with power glass: Along with its exclusive power-sliding rear roof, Envoy XUV's advanced Midgate is the key to versatility. The Midgate glass can be raised or lowered with a push of a button. When the window is raised, the passenger compartment is sealed off from the rear cargo area. Lower the glass, fold and tumble the seats, and flip down the Midgate to create a wide, extended cargo that's wide enough to fit multiple 4x8 building sheets.
* All-weather cargo area: The rear cargo area is engineered to be the most heavy duty and weather resistant in the industry. Plus, it has an innovative QuickDrain system that can channel as much as 22 cubic inches of water per second out of the cargo area. This allows the cargo area to be quickly cleaned with a simple garden hose after hauling wet or messy items like mulch or topsoil. Cargo area versatility is further enhanced by four tie-down rings that secure items of various shapes and sizes. And, an extensive selection of available GM Accessories expands Envoy XUV's cargo carrying versatility.
* Drop or swing tailgate with power window: As the industry's only drop or swing tailgate with a power window, Envoy XUV's dual-function tailgate provides increased flexibility. The tailgate power window can be raised or lowered at the touch of a button. With the window fully lowered, the tailgate can be dropped for ease-of-loading and unloading. The tailgate can also swing right, allowing bumper access to the cargo area.

Envoy XUV's reconfiguration features were designed to allow consumers to perform every functional change with ease. With a push of a button, Envoy XUV's power-sliding roof, tailgate window and Midgate glass opens or closes. The tailgate drops or swings right with one-handed operation for ease of loading and unloading. And, the seats and Midgate can be reconfigured in seconds without tools.

"Envoy XUV is an outstanding compliment to the Envoy family and to GMC's portfolio of Professional Grade products, said Lynn Myers, Pontiac-GMC general manager. "The features, benefits and capabilities of the Envoy XUV are truly amazing," she added.

Sharing the same platform as the award-winning GMC Envoy XL, Envoy XUV is the embodiment of Professional Grade engineering. Envoy XUV is specifically designed to meet the diverse needs of today's SUV customers in one multifunctional vehicle.

For all its versatility, Envoy XUV never forgets its family roots. Envoy XUV maintains the expressive styling and unsurpassed levels of comfort, performance, and amenities inherent in Envoy's five- and seven-passenger models.

"Our research has proven that a large number of SUV customers want multifunctional, cargo-carrying capability without sacrificing passenger comfort and accommodations, said Craig Bierley, Envoy marketing director. "Envoy XUV is the first and only sport utility vehicle that fills this gap," he added.

Standard power comes from the award-winning all-aluminum Vortec 4200 inline six-cylinder engine that delivers a segment leading 275 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. For those who require added towing capability, the available all-aluminum Vortec 5300 V8 generates 285 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are mated to the proven Hydra-Matic 4L60-E four-speed automatic transmission.

Envoy XUV makes its public debut in September at the Texas State Fair. Production begins in mid-2003 at GM's Oklahoma City plant.

For more information on Envoy XUV, consumers can visit www.gmc.com or call 1-888-ENVOY4U

I would take a serious look at transplanting that steering wheel. I've already flushed the single CD for a JVC with a 12 pack under the back seat but would still like steering controls ;D

My Kenwood MP3 player I put in the Avalanche comes with a remote control. ?That way I don't have to reach all the way to ?the dash! ?:)

Red 8 liter! Alright!

Very cool. I noticed that the name on the front passenger door says, "Avalanche 2500". The license plate holder is also a little different than mine (1500), plus there's a whole or empty space above the license plate holder.

Does anyone have pictures of the 2003 without the cladding?

I noticed in all the pictures there is a lack of a radio antenna. I wonder where they moved that to?

Nothing officially released from GM yet. The are not even supposed to go into production until Feb/Mar next year according to sources.

They may not have moved it at all. Most of the time the manufacturers remove that sort of "lens lice" before taking promo shots, or will retouch them out later. If you check some of the 2002 promo pix you will find many of those are missing antennas also.

I just checked the photos released to the media for the 2002 model year. None were present there too. It seems they are removed/not installed for the promo photos. It was installed on the 2003 Silverado with the same sound system that I reviewed recently.

Here are some 2002 promo photos:

2500? You forgot to do the tires/wheels. I can't tell if you remembered the wheel cladding or the "2500" on the body hardware from the picture ;D

Goo, you are killing me. The wheel cladding is there but so dark. The wheels are to tough. :3:

This took me 3 hours. I have to go get a life now. :p

Does anyone know where I can get the front bumper spoiler in goo929's photo on page 7 of this thread?

Are you talking about the one in the promo picture for 2002?

Okay, I know I've been dragging my feet with a few projects, but they're coming.
Here's what I want to come up with.

1. power folding mirrors (Does anyone see a picture of the switch they are going to use in 03?)
2. REar parking assist (it's coming, I promise)
3. Center console from the 03's.
4. Wheel and airbag from the 03's.
5. Instrument cluster from the 03? considering they are changing the whole wiring in the trucks, I would imagine this isn't going to be a plug and play like the current clusters.

Any other ideas?
